Tournament Information

Bardic Championship!
Greetings to performers of Insula Magna and beyond!
The Barony of Seagirt seeks a new Champion of the Bardic Arts! Lady Fionnguala is ready to retire and is seeking applicants to compete in her challenge!
The competition will take place at Seagirt’s Yule Celebration during our feast. Your challenge is thus:
One period piece* with documentation not to exceed one page (plus sheet music if you have it, if not lyrics written are fine).
Candidates are also to make a (short but entertaining) address to the populace and Court with a plan on how you will support the Bardic Arts if you are chosen as the winner of the competition. (This can be done before your performance piece).
What we are looking for: Connection and engagement with your audience. A good performance always has a strong connection and engages their audience. Move people to tears, make them laugh, clap, smile; evoke emotions.
For performers who wish to compete, you should make your your interest known to the Baron and / or Baroness before the event, however you can apply up until noon the day of the event because we are inclusive and the season has been a busy one.
To see all the important details of what a candidate receives, is expected to accomplish, and needs to have in order to compete, please see Article 7 of our customary.
*A period performance is defined as a song, story, or other performance that can be plausibly documented prior to 1651. This includes Shakespeare, just sayin’.
