Tournament Information

Thrown Weapons Championship – This will be a Yule-themed ax, knife, and spear tournament. There will be three log targets and three hay bales set up at three different distances. (Logs: 10, 12, and 15 feet. Bales: 15, 17, and 20 feet.) Each person will get three throws with each weapon at each target. The point values will increase the further away the target is.

Then, after the axe, knife, and spear rounds, there will be one final round with the highest point value. Each person will get the chance to defend the children of Three Mountains and defeat Krampus himself. There will be a life-sized target shaped like Krampus set at 15 feet away. Each participant gets three throws only, but with their choice of ax, knife, or spear. The target will be constructed using 4×4 cross-sections.
Weather permitting, I will set things up early to allow for some practice throws. And as a side note, I am declining to defend my title. So, one of you will be the next Three Mountains Thrown Weapons Champion!!!
Huzzah!

Heavies Fighting

Rapier Dueling

The Great 3M Baking Competition – This is a 3-phase competition based on the hit show, “Great British Baking Show.”  Compete individually or a team, and bake in the comfort of your own home!  Bring your completed dishes to Yule – along with a complete ingredients list – where they can be displayed and judged by our esteemed panel of experts.  Winner will get a fabulous prize!

First phase of the competition is the Signature Bake:  competitors will be asked to make 6 hand pies.  Any crust, any filling – you are limited only by your own creativity!

Second phase of the competition is the Technical Challenge:  competitors will need to make six decorated cookies.  Any type of cookie, any icing, any design.  You are unlimited by your options!

Final phase of the competition is the Showstopper Challenge, and wow is it going to live up to its name!  For this challenge, we are asking competitors to make a fully decorated cake!  Any type of cake, any filling, but it must be fully decorated.  Really let your imagination shine!

If you are interested in taking part in this competition, please email Carithwiseman@gmail.com with your Team Name, and get to planning your exciting baked offerings!

Please remember – as this involves edible offerings, you will need to include a full and complete list of your ingredients.

Largesse Derby – There will be a Dirty Dozen Largesse Derby to help bring the artisans of Three Mountains together and create lovely items for Their Excellencies to share with other Baronies and people of the populace.

The basic rules for the Dirty Dozen Largesse Derby

  •  All entrants must create 12 similar items that are suitable for largesse. (please no food or perishable items)
  • All entries must be tagged with the makers name, and ready to be gifted the day of the competition.
  • Items do not need to be documentable, just SCA relevant. Be as Creative as you want to be. Flex your artsy-craftsy muscles!
  • Items should not have any heraldry on them (as they are meant to be given to other areas and general gifts).
  • Judging will be in two parts. A Populace vote and a Special Award from their Excellencies.
  • Participation in the Judging is voluntary. (you can still display your largesse donation without being voted on)
  • How to vote: Each entrant display will have a cup placed next to it and anyone may put a provided token into the accompanying cup to vote for their favorite.
  • The entrant with the most tokens in their cup by evening court can choose one item from each the other entries as a prize.
  • The Special Award for their Excellencies favorite can chose one item from the remaining entries.
  • After the Derby, the remaining 11 items from each entry will be given to Their Excellencies to be used as largesse from the Barony.

Examples of 12 items suitable for largesse:

– 12 needle books
– 12 Mugs
– 12 hats from different (or the same) period(s)
– 12 children’s toys
– 12 rings
– 12 pairs of socks

It can be whatever you want it to be. Let us show the populace of An Tir the talent, generosity, and creativity of Three Mountains.

Bardic Competition – So this is a hybrid, MC’d contribution…

There will be song books, it will be a pick pass or play round robin competition. What the heck is that? Settle you back and listen…
The BARONY is encouraged to show up, take a songbook, and sing in choir with one another. The MC, will move things along and call the pieces so the energy and good cheer keeps flowing. If you want to compete for the Bardic Prize, a magnificent WARM handmade dragon Quilt, you will find me, YOUR MC (Decimus Felix) AND competitor to sign up.
Audience members will have 3 stones to vote with. After each competitor goes, there will be a receptacle passed round for the audience to vote.
The theme for competitors will be GRATITUDE and SERVICE. Your 8 minute or less story, or 4 minute or less SONG/Poem must be conform to the theme.
