The “How to Event” Event and Range Day
A casual one day event where the archery range will be open all day! (pending marshal availability)
Look for a Thrown Weapons range as well, some SCA-garage-sale merchants, a BBQ in the evening, and maybe games and dance and bardic! We also have a guest Youth Armoured Combat marshal attending! One of the main goals of this event is to give some marshals a chance to practice being Marshal In Charge and running tournaments!
Fee: $10 for adult non-members. $5 discount for SCA members. Children and youth free.

Easiest directions:
Set GPS for Pedder Bay Marina.
Do NOT turn at Pedder Bay, about a half block further and there is a three-way intersection and signage for Rocky Point Ammunition Depot.
Take a left there and drive about 2km where you will see a fire safety/rating sign, just past that, take a left towards the houses, we are in the middle at unit 9.
There are many No Trespassing signs, which you can safely ignore as you aren’t trespassing.
Set Up: begins at 10am. Please try to help a bit. We don’t start activities until things are set up, and we are not building in early set-up time as this event is partly to help folks learn how to set up for events!
Tips for Newcomers!
-gate/ entrance fee will be cash only
-please wear an attempt at garb: pre-17thC clothing. Some will be available to borrow if needed.
-bring feast gear: a plate, mug, bowl, cutlery
-BYO snacks, beverages, sunscreen, etc
-be prepared for the weather – this event is mostly outside, but will last into the evening and is on oceanfront property: it will get chilly later on, so bring a warm item
-bring a camp chair if you can
-if you are bringing children, or are a minor intending to attend, there are additional waivers required. Every minor must have a designated legally responsible adult present. If a minor wants to attend without their legal guardian, contact Athelina in advance to get paperwork done to allow that as another adult must be designated as temporary guardian for the duration of the event. This includes university students who have not yet reached the age of majority in British Columbia.

Site Amenities: potable water on site, one flush washroom on site.
Ranges are on a field which is a bit bumpy, back yard is accessible.
There are three steps up into house for washroom.
Site has one dog and one cat, with a few others in the neighbourhood.

Meal Information

In the morning, the Seagirt Coffee Urn will be on site.
Please BYO snacks/ beverages for during the day.
Starting around 5pm, the BBQ will be fired up! Their Excellencies are contributing a leg of pork. The event will supply some buns and greens, but not a neverending amount. Please bring something to share if you can, potluck BBQ style, and label for ingredients.
Back yard area is “discretely damp”. Range field is dry. No “damp” individuals may participate in marshal activities.
Tournament Information
Archery!
(MIC Isabella da Firenze, MIC’s in training Kheron Azov and Azriel di Cabra)
There will be prize tournaments in archery: one will only be open to new archers (definition of “new” to be determined by the Archery MIC team), one will be open to everyone. Everyone wishing to shoot in the tourney should bring something (can be small, like a roll of duct tape, or fancier if you like, up to and including quivers or bows) to contribute to the prize table. Contact Athelina or Her Excellency Aniko for ideas on good prizes!
The archery range will also be open for Royal Rounds and potentially the Society Seasonal Archery Competition. The summer SSAC requires 10 arrows, so if you want to put in a score for that, please bring arrows, or arrange to share/ borrow. Open range time will be dependent on marshal availability.

Youth and Family Activities
Youth Armoured Combat!

We have a Sr Youth Armoured Combat marshal traveling to our event so that children may participate! All children must have their relevant legally responsible adult present.
Volunteer Information
Set Up & Take Down: Please everyone help with this until it’s done!
Gate: everyone is encouraged to help with gate for an hour or two
Marshals: marshals are encouraged to take turns calling the line throughout the day
