Join us for the 45th Sir Edwards Tourney!
The Shire of Thornwold invites you to join us for a day full of fun, fighting, and festivities. We will have competitions to find our new Champions in Heavy, Rapier, Archery, A&S! Join us for Evening Court with The King and Queen An Tir and Prince and Princeps Tir Righ! Attend our Merchants, bid at Silent Auction, and enjoy our medieval Day Food (by donation).

Schedule:

9 am – Gate opens
10 am – Archery field opens [10:30 -11 – Newcomer Practice/Orientation]
10:30 am – lists open for the Heavy Fighter Holmgang; Arts & Sciences entries due at table
11 am – Silent Auction opens;  Arts & Sciences competition judging commences
11:30 – Heavy Armor inspection
Noon – 2 pm – Heavy Fighting Holmgang Tourney
12:30-2:30 – Day food available; Archery range closes 30 min for lunch
1:00 – Lists open for Rapier Holmgang; Archery Range re-opens for open practice
1:30 – Rapier armor inspection
2 -4:00 pm – Rapier Holmgang Tourney
2:30 – Silent Auction closes – please pay for and collect items by 3 pm; Archery range closes for tournament
2:30-3:30 – Archery Tournament – Royal Rounds
3 – Gate closes

4 pm – Evening Court
6 pm – Site closes

Accessibility Information

Limited-mobility parking is available near gate and is found along the fence near the large building.

Some members of our Shire have air born sensitivities. As such, this event is “scent-free,” so please refrain from all perfumes, scented oils, aftershaves or any other products containing scent. As noted above, smoking is allowed at the parking lot only. Due to Federal Law, marijuana/cannabis products cannot be used on site.

Service animals only on-site, no pets. This is an insurance thing with the site.

This event is held and managed by the Shire of Thornwold, a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. and is considered the official channel of this group here. Questions regarding its content should be directed to thornwold.seneschal@tirrigh.org or to the event host. Day Food:

Scandinavian Hunter stew ( beef); Vegetarian Polish stew; Salad; Polish Bobka (bread); Coin of the Realm (Cookies)

Some Gluten Free will be available. If access is a concern to you, please contact the Event Steward or Kitchen to let us know. This will help with head count and preparations. Suggested Donation – $5

Tournament Information

The Holmgang format will be used for both Armored Combat and Rapier Tournaments.

Archery Championship is in the Royal Rounds format.

Arts & Sciences Champion will be selected from entries inspired by the word/concept “Star,” and should include a card with the name of the entrant, a basic description of the entry, and a brief explanation of how the entry is associated with the “Star” theme.

We’ll gladly accept help freely given and have opportunities for gate personnel, marshals, and list assistants.

We also have a large, covered area set aside for Arts & Sciences. Please feel free to bring your projects to work on and/or share.
