The Prince and Princess of Avacal invite all to attend and partake in classes of renaissance and rapier teachings. Their Highnesses University of Avacal shall be held in the Shire of Harrows Cross on the days of October 16&17, AS 39 (2004)

Location: Cluny Community Hall – Cluny, Alberta. Follow the TransCanada Highway east from Calgary for 65 minutes until you reach the Cluny turnoff, turn right and continue into town. The hall is on the right hand side. Signs will be posted. There is no street address for the hall, legal description is Lots 6-12, Plan 855A, Block 13, 21, 12 West of 4th.

Site/Feast Fee: Site Fee: $5.00 Feast Fee: $12.00 (pre-register and pay for the feast and receive $2 off and have your name entered into a draw for a prize) The Non-member surcharge of $4 will apply. Children under 9 are free Children 10-16 pay only $5 Please make all cheques payable to “Fellowship of Harrows Cross” Box 33, Gleichen, AB T0J 1N0

There will be no off board for the feast. There will be a cash bar on site, due to mundane law no outside alcohol will be allowed on site.

The feast will be mostly French Renaissance. Please contact Lady Ciar with any dietary concerns no later than one week prior to the event.

Additional meals will be provided onsite; Saturday lunch, Sunday breakfast and lunch, for a small price ($4 per meal). There is a restaurant just outside of Cluny at a Petro Canada Truck Stop otherwise the nearest locations to eat are in Strathmore or Bassano (25 minutes from site).

Crash Space: Crash Space is available at the hall for both Friday and Saturday night, but MUST be reserved in advance. There are hotels in Strathmore and Bassano (25 minutes from site) Please contact the Autocrat to reserve crash space or for hotel information.

Merchants: There is limited merchant space available in the hall. Please contact Lady Viridis Solari (mka. Morrigan Flebotte, (403) 734-3867, viridis@scribed.ca) for information and to reserve space.

THUA Registration and Classes: A wide variety of THUA classes both general and those emphasizing the Renaissance period will be offered, included will be costuming, bardic, history and culture, and of course rapier combat. The classes brochure and online registration will be available after September 15 at this site http://www.avacal.net/university/events . Please pre-register but send no money for THUA classes; this will be collected at the event.

NOTE: Costs associated with registration for THUA shall be paid for separately from the site and feast fees.

Timeline: The site shall open at 9AM on Saturday and close at 4PM Sunday afternoon. Classes will be tentatively scheduled to begin at 10AM both Saturday and Sunday and run the entire day. The Feast shall begin at 6PM Saturday evening. Lunch shall be served at 12 noon both days.
