This is a Level 2: Branch Event where no Kingdom or Principality business is expected to be conducted event.

Madrone is planning a couple of fun upcoming activities for newcomers especially, but also long time members. We’re calling them Colloquiums – think of them as scaled-up Monday night Socials – a full day of classes, project making, and socializing Galore! No Garb required, in fact we hope to have classes to help you make garb!

The first one is August 12th and will include a swap meet for garb and equipment and armor!
Please note, this site does not allow alcohol or weapons of ANY kind – so please leave all rattan and steel in the car!  Robinswood Park is right next door if folks want to step out for a bit to discuss weapon construction or demonstrate a fighting technique.

We have a bunch of classes lined up: Introduction to the SCA (titles/kingdoms/etc), Armor repair, an overview of Costuming from different times & places in SCA period, Intro to heraldry/how to choose a name & device, Medieval food from the grocery store, Introduction to Camping, How to make easy Roman garb for hot weather, and more!

The site also has a lot of room to spread out so if you have a project (like cutting out a gown or gambeson) that needs a little more space than you have at home feel free to bring it along.

We are also planning a 2nd Colloquium on October 28th, so more fun to follow.

Set up starts at 9am Classes & Activities will begin at 10am.  Classes end at 5pm for clean up so we can be offsite by 6pm.
Please bring a picnic lunch.  Food will not be provided at this event.
