July Coronation: Imagine Dragons!

“When we get older, hair turning white,

Many years from now,

Will we still be going to events and feasts?,

Hunting quests for mythical beasts?,

Watching a tourney, sitting at court,

Wake me if I snore.

We will tell the children tales of when these kings were pups.”

Join us in the golden lands of eastern An Tir for a magical time and all of the pageantry of the Coronation as King Sven and Queen Rauokinn crown Their heirs Their Royal Highnesses Octamasades and Achaxe to the Sable Lion Thrones.

Rejoice at the creation of new Peers of the realm!

Cheer on your favorites in the Kingdom Champions Tournament!

Join in on a magical quest!

Your Event Stewards are Baroness Arnora Grimsdottir and HL Lilion Jane Godwin.

This event will be at the Clayton Community Fairgrounds in beautiful Williams Valley, WA – the same site as July Coronation 2019. This is a great site with plenty of room for camping, RV’s and buildings for activities out of the summer sun. This site offers potable water, restrooms with showers and electricity.

The site is a rural fairgrounds and is mostly level, grassy and unpaved. There are no trees – well, not big ones anyway.

Local accommodations: Loon Lake Inn

It’s rural farmland, so hotel options are few. There are several hotels/motels in Spokane 35 miles south, and the area has many AirBnB options.

Local amenities: The town of Deer Park is 4 miles south on Hwy 395 and offers a Yokes Grocery store, ACE Hardware, a Bi-Mart variety/hardware store, a Dollar Tree store, several fast food options and small local restaurants/brew pubs, a Les Schwab tire store, an Urgent Care clinic, several veterinarians. There is a VFW and an Eagles Lodge.

Pets are allowed: Per the fairgrounds policy they must have all vaccinations current. You must pick up after your pet and unless in your camp in a kennel/tent/your lap – they must be on a leash with a human attached to the other end at all times. Do not leave them unattended and please make sure they have fresh water, it’s hot out. Please know there are dogs on the adjacent farms who come visiting and we cannot stop them; they are thieves so keep food out of their reach.

Fire: it’s eastern WA in July. The local fire district will dictate what fire restrictions we must abide by at time of event but Propane is generally always allowed. Charcoal BBQ grills are allowed (as of now) but you MUST TAKE YOUR ASH HOME WITH YOU – do NOT put it on the ground or in the dumpster. Just don’t do it.

We will update this info as the event draws near and fire conditions change..

Wood Fires: As of now (5/31/22) they are prohibited anywhere on the fairgrounds.

Vigil Parties:

Candidate Order Location Day/Time
Fina MacGrigohair Pelican Wealdsmere Pavilion Friday evening
Medb Pelican Glymm Mere pavilion Friday evening
Nicholas de Beaumont Chivalry Wastekeep pavilion
Saturday evening (post elevation party)

ExPats Tea

The Expat tea is to help welcome and answer questions about An Tir, its customs and its anthropology for those perhaps not new to the SCA but new to An Tir. Come, sit, chat, have a tea and ask any questions you would like, or just come to socialize. Moving to a new kingdom can be a challenging experience and we not only want to make that experience a little smoother, we want to meet our new friends! Everyone is welcome. Come meet some new friends and maybe even some old ones. 2 o’clock Saturday in The Wealdsmere Pavilion on the Erics. Bring a chair.

Delightful Dozen Largesse Derby!

Rules:

All entrants should create 12 items that are suitable for largesse:

For example:

  • needlebooks
  • hats
  • feastwares
  • childrens toys
  • necklaces

Etc, the entries can be anything that is suitable for largesse!

All entries must be tagged with your name/Branch and be ready to be gifted the day of the competition.

Please list the ingredients of any food or cosmetics items (spice mixes, soap, etc) and avoid heavily scented items or items that may melt….summer, eastern An Tir, it gets kinda hot……

Items need not be documentable, this is not an Arts and Sciences competition, but they should be handcrafted and suitable for gifting at Coronation.

Items should not have heraldry on them as they are meant to be given to other areas.

Sadly, no alcoholic beverages please.

Entires may be dropped off at the A&S Barn anytime after 2:00 on Friday and judging will take place throughout the day on Saturday and will be populace choice by blind ballot. The contest will close at 5:00 PM on Saturday night. The winner of the Donation Derby is the person with the most votes. The winner gets to select one item from each of the other competitors. The rest will go into the largess chest to be gifted to the new King and Queen.

Thank you for your creativity and generosity!
