HOLMGANG IN KRAKENFJORD
The Shire of Krakenfjord invites one and all to a weekend of fighting and feasting on August 22, 23 and 24 in Vernon, BC.
Our 8th Annual Holmgang Tournament will once again feature the traditional-style Holmgang Heavy tournament, with two finalists fighting a best-of-three bout while standing toe-to-toe on the same cloak. The winner earns the right to carry the mighty axe Spine-Splitter for the next year.
Rapier fighters will engage in competition to find the Holmgang tourney-winner. Format TBA.
There will be an Arts & Sciences competition on the site. This year�¢??s theme will be open; documentation is highly recommended
Target archers will compete throughout the weekend.
Our Saturday night Bardic competition will be held around the fire; theme for this is also open. Come and hear our local troubadours or perform a piece of your own.
Our kitchen will be open for meals all weekend. A meal plan is available for $10.00 per person, which includes 2 breakfasts & 2 lunches ($2.50 per meal; can�¢??t beat that).
Saturday night we will be holding a feast. Cost is $8 per person. Please reserve your feast tickets (to be paid for at gate) with the autocrats, as there is limited seating in the hall.
Friday night we will have a potluck feast supplied by the shire as a welcoming hot meal for the weary travelers.
Our Pied Piper will be organizing a Mini Bardic and Arts & Sciences Competition.

Site directions:
The site is the Tillicum Girl Guide camp Vernon, BC. Make your best way to Vernon, BC. At the North end of the city turn east on Silver Star Road. Follow Silver Star road through Vernon and out of town towards the ski hill. 5.7 km past Pleasant Valley Road, turn right onto Tillicum Road. There will be a sign. Follow the signs along Tillicum Road for 3.2 km. The camp is on the right and is clearly marked.
The site opens at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and closes on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Camping is available. Drinking water is limited. Please bring your own. Also, this is a high-altitude site; nights will be cold. Bring your furs! There is limited indoor crash space available. Please book ahead with the Autocrat. Note that children using indoor overnight facilities MUST be accompanied by an adult.
