The fun and friendly Shire of Mountain Edge (Yamhill County,
Oregon) welcomes all to our 9th Defenders Tourney!

Our site is close to Hwy 18 in McMinnville with ample off-street
parking just steps from the great hall. Heavy armored combat is
planned to be on the lawn (inside if weather doesn’t cooperate),
rapier combat is INSIDE unless the rapier fighters decide outside
is better due to very cooperative weather. The huge hall has an
A&S display area, tables/chairs for merchants and visiting, a
Family Activities area, restrooms (ADA compliant), and a large
kitchen. The entire site is ADA accessible. Family Activities plans
a variety of games and activities for children! The Shire PPWs
(Public Participation Weapons), an indoor PPW eric, and a Sr. YAC
Marshal will also be available.

Site fee includes beverages and snacks, a light lunch of soups,
cheese, and bread, and dessert served just prior to closing
moot/Defender investiture. Bring your festive tablecloths –
disposable feast gear is provided but the tables at the hall are
“venerable” (though sturdy) and could use some decorative

Come and vie to be our next Heavy or Rapier or Arts and Sciences
Defender! Not competing? Come to honor our current and future
defenders and to enjoy the company of friends old and new, bring a
project, enjoy the bardic and A&S displays…. Mountain Edge is
a fun and friendly Shire and all are welcome. Gold Key available.
PLEASE contact the event steward if you need Gold Key- we want to
bring the correct sizes and period of garb for you so you and your
friends feel welcome at the event!

Please see the Shire Web site for guidelines for competing for
these defenderships. All entrants are welcome – you do NOT need to
be a resident of the Shire to compete!!!

Just a reminder – our Equestrian, Archery, Youth Armored Combat
and (new!!!) Thrown Weapons Defender are chosen at Acorn War each

Also…. there are no food stores close to this site – we
recommend stocking up on your way to the event. Plus…. the site
has ample folding chairs but they are the standard metal type. Your
enjoyment may be enhanced by bringing a seat cushion or your own
folding chair.
