Summer is ebbing and Autumn is just around the corner. As envisioned by Baron Dyon de Mantel, the time for Baron’s Ball approaches. Join the Barony of Wastekeep for a weekend of competition and merriment! Please join us for the day if that is all your schedule allows.

Friday evening there will be gaming and fellowship in the Spitting Duck Tavern (also known during the day as the Baronial Pavillon). Games will be provided, but feel free to bring your own favorites along with beverages and snacks to enjoy while you play.

Saturday will see heavy battles, a Cut & Thrust Tourney, Rapier Rose Tourney and an archery prize tourney. If there are enough interested children present there will be a YAC tourney. Amazing prizes to be won. Heavy tourney prize is a Sir Devon Seax, for Archery it is 6 Bacchus arrows, and the Rapier winner will receive a sword frog hand tooled by HL Kaitlin of Wastekeep. Huzzah to our artisans!

While the martial minded are thus engaged there will be the Baronial Arts & Sciences Championship, the Veggie Animals contest for youth and a variety of classes. Throughout the day “Treasure” prizes will be awarded by random drawings, all in attendance are entered to win upon signing in at gate.

There will be a “it only takes two” largess contest. Only two items required to enter, though you may enter as many times as you would like.

In the evening, Wastekeep Baronial Bardic Championship will be held during court. The Tourney prizes will be awarded and winners of the coveted Battered Helm and Not the Sharpest Knife will be announced.

Defenestrator of Wastekeep is up for grabs. Put your best method of filling this role to parchment. Our wonderful Baroness will read through all the entries and the axe will be passed to the winner.

Immediately after court there will be potluck desserts and dancing, guided by Her Grace Stjarna, in front of the Baronial Pavillon.

Sunday will be a time for continued conversations and gatherings, as well as the last take-down for the season.

If you would like to make reservations for RV, camping requests (such as around the fighting field if it is available or for large groups, or interested in teaching a class the wonderful Lady Sadhbh Dhubh is keeping track of requests. Please email her at sadhbh.dhubh@gmail.com Those with mobility issues will be given priority to the closer RV spaces, please let Lady Sadhbh Dhubh know if you have any specific requirements. There are a limited number of RV spaces with hookups available.

Those interested in selling their wares (vendor reservations) can contact Ciosa Fioravanti at cck6204@charter.net or Katharine.Akornebir@gmail.com

Lots of opportunities for volunteering. HL Roth will be running gate, a gate sign up sheet will be posted in the Facebook event prior to the start. Opportunities available to assist with lists. Heavy fighters needed to put up and take down the castle. Heralding throughout the event to keep everyone up to date on the schedule.

Lists are scheduled to open at 8am Saturday, followed by Court and the Tourneys, classes and other competitions to start by 10am.

We are looking forward to seeing all gentles who can attend and enjoy the camaraderie this end of camping season event brings.
