Some fun for Baron’s Ball this year.

Defenestrator:

de·fen·es·trate
/dēˈfenəˌstrāt/

verb
1. 1. RAREthrow (someone) out of a window.

The Barony of Wastekeep is looking for a new Defenestrator. This position wasn’t filled at Springfest, so We’re looking to fill it this year at Baron’s Ball.

Description of the job – “Given for excellence in the description of torture. Said individual is charged with carrying out all required tortures proclaimed by the Baron and/or Baroness.”

Regalia – if chosen, you will be responsible for a whip on a belt favor and an executioners ax.

History: Wastekeep is not known for its tall towers. In times past, when an individual needed to be defenestrared, there would… from time to time… be the need for said individual to receive prior application of influence, perhaps multiple attempts at said defenestration. The job was created to help facilitate such actions.

To apply – submit a written application of intent to Her Excellency Gudrun by 4pm, Saturday October 1st, AS 57. Application should include who you are, and your favorite way to… influence… individuals that may have the need to be… influenced. Said influence may or may not include defenestration.

Remember – this is all in good fun!

Tournament Information

Heavy tournaments

Barons Ball Heavy Fighting Scenarios by Sir Nicholas de Beaumont

1. 15 minute Ransom Battle: Combatants gain points in this scenario by capturing hostages, and ransoming them for a number of points reflective of their rank. Unbelted fighters are worth 1 point, Knights are worth 3 points, Counts and Dukes are worth 6 points, and Kings are worth 10 points. When struck a killing blow in this scenario a combatant freezes instead of returning to their resurrection point. If a teammate places their weapon/hand on them and escorts them back, they resurrect as normal. If an opponent places a weapon/hand on them they are captured, and the fatally struck combatant MUST move with their captor to the captors’ score keeper and report their rank clearly. Once the appropriate points are allotted to their captor, the prisoner returns to their own resurrection point and proceeds as normal.
*if the weapon/hand is lifted from the felled combatant, they freeze again. Meaning they can potentially be rescued before they are ransomed, or else recaptured.

2. 10/10 minute Castle Battle: Traditional Barons Ball Scoring, Kills Minus Deaths. This is the only battle in which weapons over 6′ weapons are permitted.

3. 15 minute Ransom Battle: this is simply a second run of the first scenario.

4. 15 minute Boat or Cliff Battle : Traditional Barons Ball Scoring, Kills Minus Deaths.

*No weapons over 7.5′ are permitted in any scenario.
**Weapons over 6′ are ONLY permitted in the castle battle.
***no thrown or missile weapons, as this is a tournament not a conventional war.

Who will walk away with the battered helm? Not the sharpest knife of Wastekeep, who will be the bearer of this regalia for the following year?

Rapier

  • memorial rose tournament which will be a tavern style tournament on Sunday morning. This will be a memorial tourney for (Master Ulrik) Dominik el Barok.

There will be a Cut and Thrust practice on Saturday

NO combat archery!!!
