Silent Auction:

Terra Pomaria’s fabulous Annual event BAR GEMELS is fast approaching. Just a mere 7 weeks away. Are you ready to have a great time? So many things to do! This event is held at the Camp dedicated to Summer Education and fun for Children who are Hearing Impaired. This site is very near and dear to our hearts. In that vein, we are having our traditional and infamous SILENT AUCTION! The proceeds of this will be going to scholarships to attend camp this Summer.
Do you have some fun items you think someone might like to have? Maybe a skill you would like to share? A treat you are known for? Maybe just something you have surplus of or something for the Children… we would love to have it. This is a worthwhile cause and we would love to help send as many kids as we can this year.
We ask that you bring your donations to the Marked tables at the event before 11am if possible, to give people plenty of time to bid. I can accept items in advance if necessary. Bidding forms will be provided. Please label your donations. Especially any food items.

Largesse Donation and Display:

Terra Pomaria is in need of Largesse! Have a handmade period item, clever safety kit, or some other appropriate item you’d love to have shared to other lands? Please drop them by the Largesse Donation and Display area, with your label attached. We’ll leave them on display for all to admire before presenting them to Their Excellencies Terra Pomaria!
Need an idea? One of the key things our Thane and Baroness are looking for are cards. They are keen to acknowledge the efforts and kindnesses of all, but are short on supply of cards here at this, their first official event as B&B. Cards should be hand designed, painted/drawn, simple, with any appropriate design, and in any size (postcard, folded, bookmark, etc.). Have several? You can put them in a small pack, such as 5 simple cards tied with a ribbon and labeled with who made them.
If you’d like to pick up some existing card designs to paint, look no further! We will have plenty of packs available for pickup throughout the event at the Largesse Donation and Display area. See Christmas Caryl for more details or contact our Scribe, Wystan.

A&S Display:

Want a chance to show folks what you’re up to within the Arts & Sciences Realm? Feel free to display your items. No formal setup or coaching, just an opportunity for folks to Oooo and Ahhhh over your discoveries and skills.

Live Music and Dancing:

After Dinner Saturday, we’ll be hot steppin to some of these dances hosted by Cairth and Brandon. Music provided by Ximena, Marcello, and hopefully others!
Dance list:
  • Washerwoman’s Horses Bransle
  • Earl of Essex Measure Queen’s Alman
  • Dargason (this one for sure)
  • Rufty Tufty
  • Hearts Ease
  • Gathering Peascods

Bardic Championship:

A notice from the Bardic champion HL William regarding the Bardic Championship competition:
All’s Fair In Love & War
Come to Bar Gemels and compete to be the next Bardic Champion of The Barony of Terra Pomaria. We’re looking for a performance that evokes a period or SCA atmosphere, not necessarily a period piece but certainly not modern (good filk excepted). Pieces should be two to four minutes in length. I’m impressed with preparation and memorization. Pieces can be be happy, sad, serious, or humorous, as long as they fit the categories. The competition will be in three rounds. Your song, story, poem, instrumental piece, interpretive dance, or some other performance type that I haven’t thought of will be in the following categories:
Round One – LOVE Should look at some aspect of romance.
Round Two – WAR We’ll allow a broad interpretation of war. Just let us know you understood the assignment.
Round Three – Bring Your Best! Entertain us and show why you should be the next to represent Terra Pomaria as Bardic Champion.

YIS, Ld. William Swindell – Current Bardic Champion of Terra Pomaria

Each round only one or two teams are eliminated, depending on attendance, when the final two teams face off they’ll start at different tables and fight best 2/3. When the final team has one the squires will turn on their knight, taking him out of the game.
