Bar gemels heavy fighting

There will be two tournaments this year.

First, there will be the first Sir Dublin O’Guin Bar Gemels Memorial Tournament.

This will be a standard double elimination tournament. The first round will be fought with glaives in memory of Sir Dublin’s impressive skill with a glaive. All the rest of the rounds will be fighter’s best weapon style.

The Second tournament will be a day long tournament called, “Bar gemels duels”

This is an experimental tournament that is meant to celebrate the fun and frivolity of this event as well as cater top those that can never eat enough rattan.

The list for this tournament will open at 8:00am and the tournament will begin at 9:00 and will end 1 hour prior to evening court.

The premise is this, all fighters will remain in armor for as long as they want to participate.

The fights are based on challenges to duel. Challenges can be made at any time and at any place on site. For example, two fighters may be walking around sight and see each other in armor and one may issue the challenge to duel, or fighters may be playing cards in the tavern and may issue a duel, etc.

Rules

  1. All the normal rules of the list apply, in particular any fighter may refuse a challenge with no dishonor. If a challenge is refused, the bout is a win for the fighter issuing the challenge.
  1. All fights will take place in the eric for safety reasons and will have a heavy marshal present.
  2. The process for issuing a challenge and fighting the duel;
    1. All fighters must have a “second.” The second has the responsibility to negotiate the terms of the duel ie, weapon style, when the duel will occur, the format (one and done, best 2 out of 3, counted blows, etc.) Fighter’s may be each other’s “seconds.”
    2. Fighter A will approach Fighter B and issue a challenge with grace and civility. Bullying and inappropriate language will not be tolerated. However, we do appreciate schtick and theater.
    3. Once the terms of the duel are decided, and both parties agree, the duel will move to the eric to be fought.
    4. The bout will not be fought unless there is a marshal present.
    5. The victory and loss will be marked down on the list sheet by either the marshal or a list minister if present.
  3. The tournament victor will be the fighter with the most duel victories when time expires one hour prior to evening court.

Rapier-

We are going to bring back the Wandering Marshals tournaments we did a number of years ago – Any authorized fighter who wishes to, be geared up starting after the morning court and you will find a fighter and a marshal (or two) and go fight – anywhere on the grounds so long as it is a safe location and there is a wide enough birth between fighters and spectators. But remember, you have to stay with your marshals and sometimes they’ve been known to get bored and wander. Also, make sure to keep track of your wins and losses!
We will finish out the day with either a standard double elimination or a double round robin, depending on number of entrants (if under 10, we will do a double round robin, if over 10 we will have a double elimination tournament), with the following adjustments:
If a double elim, we will use your win vs loss ratio from the wandering marshals tournaments to determine who you will fight (so keep track of your wins and losses, this is on the honors system)
If a double round robin, the top 1/4 of fighters in the tournament with the highest win ratio from the wandering marshal tournaments will go into the round robin with one extra win!

Gaming- games will be played throughout the day in the main hall and outside. Whenever a person wins a game they will take a token. At the end of the day Saturday tokens will be added up and prizes will go to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd winners.

The Captain of Eagles tournament will have two regular rounds. The first will be a royal round and the second will be a combat round at a static target. All equipment for the combat round will be provided. The top scorers will face off in a wand shoot to determine the new Captain of Eagles.

For the Summits Hunter, we will also have two rounds. The first round will have the entrants throw each weapon three times (3 axes, 3 knives, 3 spears). In the second round, the entrants will throw the weapons in a predetermined order – axe, knife, spear and then spear, knife, axe. The total scores from each round will be added together to give a final total. The top scorers will go to a final where they will throw each weapon once, with the highest combined score from the final round becoming the new Summits Hunter.
