Shire of Mountain Edge Arts and Sciences Defender Competition

Good gentles, I am seeking a successor who will defend the Shire of Mountain Edge in the Arts and Sciences.  This is open to any and all, I encourage you to enter even if you have never entered a competition before.  All Arts and Sciences projects qualify for the competition, from period creations, to research presentations, and even cooking/baking and brewing!  The competition will be judged at Acorn War on September 7th, 2024.

Thy prompt:

Show me your joy!  What is it you like to create or research? Why is it your joy? The competition will be judged on the following categories.

  • Historical basis for the project.  Documentation on how your project/creation is historically accurate. (For example, the leatherwork design used was found in historical records.)
  • Modern techniques/changes/adaptations.  If you made adjustments to your project using modern tools, methods.  (For example, using a sewing machine to create part of your project.)
  • Your joy.  Why did you choose this project? Why does it bring you joy? (This could be in how you will use the project, the creation process, etc.)
  • Quality of the project.
  • Presentation of your project
  • All projects should also include a squirrel or acorn somewhere in the presentation, documentation, or even worn by the person presenting.

In order to enter, you need only bring your entry to the event and present it during judging. There will be space in the Pavilion for displays if you would like to display your entry before judging.
