Kingdom Largesse

Largesse is a gift. Within our society it is received by the Crown and either kept (as a personal gift) or more often redistributed in various ways. For instance, They may regift it as favors to dignitaries in Court, as a “Thank You” to individuals for service to the Kingdom or Crown, or as prizes for competitions. Largesse is usually handmade and gathered through the generous donation of members of the populace – this can be by single donations or largesse contests run at events.
Basic Guidelines for Donation:

*  Handmade is fantastic but not required, just that it’s as period as possible (exceptions are in place for children’s items – period is preferred but NOT required, period adjacent or ‘thematic’ is great (examples: magical creatures, a modern puzzle with jousting scene, etc.).

* PLEASE label each of your items with your SCA Name, SCA Branch, and what the item is/can be used for. If you wish to remain anonymous, that’s fine! Just include your branch and the item description. You can make your own personalized labels or use this template to print out a basic batch of cards that you can fill in

*  ANYONE can donate largesse, in ANY quantity (Yes, even just one thing)!

*  NO scented items please!

*  NO perishable items please!

*  NO items that can melt please! (If you are unsure, leave it in your car on a 90 degree day and see if it melts)

* Items we always need: Caps/Hats/Coifs; Veils; Cups; Toys/Games/Crafts/Stuffies for Children and Teens.

Royal Largesse Coordinator

The Largesse Coordinators receive, organize, record, and assist in the appropriate re-distribution of gifts received by the Royals.

Storage Deputy

The Storage Deputy assists the Coordinator with the receiving, sorting, inventorying, donor tracking, and prepping for Royal gifting of largesse donated to the Crown. They can work independently or in person with the Coordinator to achieve these tasks.

 

Royal Largesse Coordinator – Regional Deputies

Regional Deputies assist by serving as the point person for their area. They collect donations from those who don’t travel and bring them to events attended by the Crown for handoff (or collect everything and arrange for another local member to courier), and relay needs/requests from the Crown to members in their region who may not use social media. Additionally, they may encourage local groups in the creation of largesse to donate to the Kingdom by running small contests or issuing challenges, arranging largesse making parties, etc.
