Heavy War Scenarios

RULES:

    1. Weapons are limited to 9′ in length.

    1. No Plate is Proof – Battles will alternate with and without missile combat so everyone can have fun.

    1. Death from Behind and Death on the Ground will be allowed with the following statement: It is highly encouraged that you face your opponent before dispatching them. There will also be a demonstration before fighting begins.

    1. Sides will be evened depending on the scenario.

    1. Archery included every other round

Scenarios will be in this order depending on participants.

    1. Flags of Dominion (Capture the Flag): The battle moves to the treacherous terrain of the broken field where cunning and agility reign supreme. Four flags stand at the heart of the conflict. Can you storm the enemy lines, seize their flags, and hold your ground? Every flag captured is a step closer to dominance! (unlimited resurrection)

    1. Hold the Bridge: Stand your ground in our Hold the Bridge event! Half of the fighters, defend your bridge against waves of attackers for as long as you can. How long can you maintain your fortress against the onslaught? Bridge defenders 1 life, Attackers 3 lives.

    1. Final Stand (Last Team Standing): The open field becomes the stage for the final, decisive battle, with limited chances of resurrection (2 Lives), every life counts. Will you stand your ground, vanquish your enemies, and emerge as the last team standing, or will you fall in the pursuit of glory? (1 life each)

    1. Zombie Battle: Survive the apocalypse in our thrilling Zombie Battle! Begin as a human and fight off the growing zombie horde. Remember, only a well-placed blow to the head can take them down. But beware, one touch and you’ll join the undead ranks. Will you survive or turn into a brain-hungry zombie? (Zombies will be chosen at the beginning of the battle)

    1. Team Melee: Unleash your inner strategist in our exciting Team Melee event. Form a three-person team and face off against other teams. Coordinate, strategize, and fight until your team is the last one standing. Can your team outlast the others?(No archery in this battle)

Rapier War Scenarios

This year will feature 2 scenarios:

    1. A capture territories battle (flag battle):  2 flags will be in play with each team trying to protect their own while assaulting the enemies flag.  Each round will be timed with each team having a resurrection point and unlimited revives.  To capture a flag it must be stolen from the enemy camp and returned to your base.  The team that has scored the most flags when time runs out wins the round.

    1. Defend the town:  Two teams will be formed, Raiders and Militia.  This will be untimed event with limited lives.  The Raiders are tasked with sacking the town hall while the defenders must use the towns layout to stop them.  The field will have areas lay-out marking building locations creating roads, alleyways, and town walls.  Either team wins by depleting the enemy forces, laying claim of the town.  No building may be entered during the scenario.  Militia will resurrect in Town Hall while Raiders resurrect just outside the city gates.

Meal Information

Blackhart Abbey Setup Soup Kitchen & Brewing Competition

To welcome weary travelers, House Blackhart hosts a soup kitchen potluck on Friday night of the War —
and it just wouldn’t be complete without a brewing competition!

Brewers, come share your craft!

All fermented entries are welcome: mead, beer, cordials, wine, pickles, cheeses, etc.

Judging will be done by populace vote.

If you’re interested in competing, please let us know by contacting acornwar@antir.org
This will help us ensure there is enough space prepared for all competitors.

Tournament Information

There will be a number of tournaments at Acorn War across a wide variety of disciplines.

Equestrian Defender Tournament

We are pleased to have Horses return to the fields of Mountain Edge.   There will be an Equestrian Defender tournament, as well as other mounted activities; including archery!

For Equestrian Defender, it will be a timed course, with 10 seconds added to your total time for each missed target, except if you make the L and miss the cup, it will only add 5 seconds. Time starts when your hand touches the rope gate at the beginning, and ends when your horse is back through the gate at the end.

In addition to the course itself, we will rate each other on how well we embodied the ideal SCA equestrian over the course of the day. This might be pageantry, or horsemanship, or whatever “SCA Equestrian” means to each equestrian on the field that day. Each contestant will rate each other contestant from 1-10, and that number of seconds will be subtracted from their time.

Please remember that if you intend to jump the jump/step (or if your mount probably intends to), you must wear a helmet.

Arts & Sciences Tournament

Duchess Caia will be hosting an Arts & Sciences tournament to determine who the next Defender will be.

With the event swiftly approaching this year’s theme will make it easier for all artisans to join: Work-in-Progress

Pull out your half-finished projects or start a new one. You may go lightly on the documentation, less than 1 page is preferred.

Be sure to be able to tell the judges:

  • Why did you choose to make this?
  • How far are you into completion?
  • Is it coming out the way you wanted?
  • What are you learning?

Archery Defender Tournament

From 3 to 4pm on Saturday, HL Rashida bint Yusuf will host an Archery Defender Tournament to determine her successor.
Participants will compete in a round-robin tic-tac-toe archery battle.

Thrown Weapons Defender Tournament

Tournament details to be determined.

Atli Memorial Axe Tournament (prize tourney)

The axe tournament will be a timed bear pit tournament.  (Duration to be determined)  We ask that each participant bring a great axe to fight with, and the memory of someone to fight for.  The winner will be determined by the participants.

His Lordship, Sargent, Squire Atli Hvetulfr was a long time member of the Shire of Mountain Edge.
He was there when Acorn War began.
This tournament is held in his memory.

Rapier Prize Tournament

There will be a Tournament for the rapier fighters to show their skill.  The winner will receive a hand-made historical hanger sword, skillfully wrought by Eaghan, Brynjarr Olfúss and adorned by Bohemond, all hailing from Adiantum.
