Greetings and salutations from the staff of the First Bardic War. We are gratified by your interest and enthusiasm for the upcoming war. We ourselves are very excited and we look forward to hosting this event for you.Since they’ve come up a number of times, we want to clarify a few points. While it is called the First Bardic War, in its expanse it is truly a Performing Arts War, as inclusive as we can make it. Dance, theatre, we have it. We are including A&S. We are also working on ways that the martial community can participate by incorporating some of the workout activities that they are already doing at home, within the current guidelines and restrictions of the SCA.We encourage each Kingdom and side to choose their champions, war generals, and to organize themselves as they see fit to best represent their kingdoms. Virtual war practices? Strategy meetings? Plots and counter-plots? Espionage? Raids? All are within the scope of kingdom war preparations, and are a great way for people to get involved! While there is a limit to the number of war-point competitions one can enter, this is to allow as many people as possible to get a chance to participate in fighting for their side. Neither volunteering nor teaching will prevent anyone from being able to enter any war point activities or count against the limit of war point competitions one might enter. Please also be aware that we intend to provide ample non war-point activities, so there will be plenty of things for most everyone to do. We are working hard to get clear information out in a timely manner, but as this is a New Thing, we want to craft it well first, so we ask your patience if we do not have every answer ready right now.
