Their Excellencies Þorkell Palsson, Baron of Wastekeep and Guðrun Sæbjarnarsdottir, Baroness of Wastekeep invite you to attend Wastekeep’s 40th Anniversary and Springfest event to vie for the honor of being their Champions.

This year at Springfest, Saturday will hold a grand Day of Tournament! Each contestant i the three martial championships (Rapier Combat, Target Archery and Armored Combat) will be presented before their Excellencies in a processional. Points will be awarded to contestants for bringing a personal banner to be displayed during the processional and around the eric. At opening court, each member of the populous will be given ribbons for Chivalry, Prowess and Entertainment to award to the contestants of their choice, so watch the contest closely and tie the ribbon to their banner pole once you see a deserving action! Throughout the day combatants will have the opportunity to participate in a handful of tournaments ranging from quick single elimination, weapons style specific tournaments, to a longer, open to all weapons tourney, to grand melees! At midday, the fighting will pause so that the populous can view the skill of the barony’s archers in a heralded archery tournament!

Spectators are encouraged to come and lounge in the shade of the pavilions around the eric while cheering for your favored contestants.  Come share food and drink with friends, old and new, while you watch the tourneys, play a game, or just relax in the shade.

We encourage any visiting Barons / Baronesses to bring three favors in their colors to bestow upon the entrants of their choice for bonus points.

We will wind down the evening with dancing on the eric. Even if you are not up to dancing, please join us on the eric and bring a snack or desert to share as we continue to enjoy the company of friends.

In addition to the battles for champions, prizes will be on the line for best of pagentry / SCA spirit. Prizes going not only to those competing for championships, but also one to the populace. So bring your banner and other decor, make the judges feel like they are stepping back in time.

Those competing in all categories are encouraged to bring a shield board. Supplies will be available at site to make some. Any appropriate shield board is acceptable. Approximate dimensions 4in x 3.75, with hole in top and bottom for hanging.

Largess contest: Only 2 items to enter, can enter multiple times.For each entry you will receive an extra token to bestow upon the person / fighter you feel showing best SCA spirit, pagentry.

We are proud of our wonderful barony and thankful to those who have given their time and knowledge i helping us reach our 40th year. Our Gretebooks will be available to view, and also a board for posting any of your favorite pictures from the barony’s past you would like to share.
