Tournament Information

Scheduled activities!

  • Heavy Armour Tir Righ Championship Tournament
    Format:
Greetings all, Principality Heavy Champions Tourney is coming up and I thought it time to post the format. For Heavy Champions in August I was thinking Probably two eriks depending on numbers. I am thinking Double elimination with each round best of three. Standard weapon conventions, with finals again best of three. I would also love to strongly encourage flags and other forms of heraldry for the combatants as much as is possible. I am very much looking forward to seeing as many of you there as can make it! Thank you all!  -Thorwulf, Scourge of Tir Righ
  • Archery Tir Righ Championship Tournament
    Format:
This competition follows the rules set down in the An Tir Book of Target. All archers will be required to shoot two different weapons, one of which must be either combat archery or a period weapon. – this includes period longbow (no built in shelf or centre cut handles, arrow rests or modern plastic arrow rest, but a piece of leather or fabric can be used; modern sights or artificial commercial devices and/or elements solely intended for sighting/aiming are not allowed) , period recurve bow (This includes Arab, Turkish, Mongol, Yumi, etc), period crossbow (the stock must be made of wood, it may not have a modern rifle-style butt, it may not have front sights, no modern style lock or modern trigger). Arrows are self nock for period shooting, vs plastic nocks for open/non period shooting. Ifcombat archery is chosen, the weapon type may be combat archery arrows or bolts, shot from a combat archery legal bow or crossbow. If using this option, the heads of blunts will be dipped in paint just prior to shooting so hits can be marked. Combat archers must use combat legal hand protection while shooting. Spotters can be recruited to help track hits. Arrangements for any loaner gear must be made prior to the competition. The qualifying round will consist of two stations. Each station will be shot with both of the archer’s chosen weapons. Each round will be shot with 6 arrows. All targets will be at unknown distances. The first station will consist of stump targets. Each stump hit will score either 2 pts, 4 pts, or 6 pts. The second station will be a standard target face with parts of the target face removed. Standard royal round scoring will apply to any arrow that hits the target face. – Arrows touching a line count as the higher valued color, provided no color shows between the arrow and line. -Pass-throughs or bounce offs: 3 points, unless a witness can verify the actual score. In the event of a tie, an additional shoot off will determine who will advance. The archers with the top four scores will advance to the final. Details for the final will be announced at that time.
