Come one, come all to the Investiture Ball!

The Principality of the Summits and the Shire of Southmarch invite you to join Their Alpine Highnesses, Prince Ivan and Princess Mina to witness the investiture of the Alpine Heirs, Sir Finn Grim Baneson and Maestro Eduardo Francesco Maria Lucrezia.

In celebration of 11th Night, we will be hosting Two Days of Entertainment, December 8-9, 2023. Join us Friday Night (Gate opens at 3pm)for Tavern Night featuring period games and a Bardic Competition. The populace is encouraged to bring their favorite game, period or not. Bardic will have a sing-a-long contest for populous favorite. Please bring handouts and teach us your favorite song.

There will be a silent auction to raise funds for Regalia; please bring items to bid on.

Saturday (gate opens at 8am)
Witness our fabulous Heirs as they ascend the Griffon Thrones.
Celebrate the newest Vicounties.
Marvel at the feats of grace and skill as the rapier fighters vie for the honor of Summits Rapier Champion and the right to be named Captain of Cats.
Walk the Arts and Science Displays and see what our talented artisans have done.
Consult with the heralds for your name and device submission.
Turn your learning up to 11 by taking our classes.
Bid on your newest treasure or grab a pin & flag at our Silent Auction.
Dance the night away at our Investiture Grand Ball.

Restaurant options for dinner (The Falls Taphouse, Applebees, Jalapenos, McDonalds, Burger King) are within walking distance and Door Dash and Instacart are available.

Food and drink *are* allowed and the site is wet.

“Cotehardie Draping Workshop!”
Instructor: Waldgräfin Taran Dæstingr O.L.
Time: 3 hours Cap: 6 students
Supplies needed: 2 yards (woven, non-stretch) fabric, or an old sheet (stripes work well), or $5 for provided fabric
Description: Do you want a Cotehardie pattern custom fitted to your body? Cotehardies look great on everyone, and their construction is very simple. Students will be paired up to take turns fitting each other with instructor’s guidance. Each student will leave with a paper pattern made to their body. PLEASE COME PREPARED to trade your top for a mockup and stand in a room with others. Leggings or other close fitting garments are the best for wearing under the mockup.

Drop-In Social Media/Camera Operation
Instructor: Zulaikha al-Zarqa’
Do you like to watch the Live Streams on Social Media? Have you ever been curious as to how it all happens? Come find out during the Captain of Cats Rapier Tourney! Ask questions, learn, and familiarize yourself with the equipment and programs so you too can Live Stream Events at home.

Twine a Tiny Jute Basket
Instructor: Duchess Meagan
Learn to weave a tiny twined jute basket, using one of the world’s oldest basket making techniques. Students will twine a long weaver around eight spokes to create a flat base; turn up the sides; and lay down a simple rim. All materials will be supplied, but students may wish to bring their own pair of small, sharp scissors. $2 materials fee.

Children’s 11th Night Choir Practice
An hour or so of music wherein are found period songs suitable for youth bardic and youth having fun. In this class, singers will practice vocal technique, learn about period language and historical vocabulary, and stretch their musical muscles! Projected scope is 6 or 7 songs of easy to early intermediate difficulty, with room for more songs or greater interpretation if time allows. Lyrics with truncated bibliography will be available for take-away at the end of class. Come sing with us

“Embracing Diversity with Respect:
Exploring Cultural Appreciation and Avoiding Appropriation in the SCA”
Instructor: Baroness Talia bint al-Athir, O.P.
Time: 1 ½ hours
Description: This class is lecture format/TedTalk with a Q&A at the end

“See Something, Do Something: Bystander Intervention”
Instructor: Baroness Genevieve Choue, O.P.
Time: 1 ½ hours
Description: All too often, when unchivalric behaviors happen, there are people in a position to interrupt the behavior, provide education about the offensive behavior and/or be a support for the person who was the target of the behavior.
Join us in taking steps to make our Society a better place with empowerment and tools to address behaviors that do not reflect our Society values.
