Tournament Information

Greetings Artisans & Scholars,
As the Pleiades climb in the sky and we approach the cross-quarter day known as Samhain, we welcome longer winter nights. Now we will pass our hours indoors spent in cræft, contemplation, and study. Let us be productive and turn our gaze toward the promise of the warmer days of spring. It is then that we shall gather and share the fruits of our labors. As Principality Champion, I challenge all to join me in the Alpine Festival of the Arts & Sciences. Opportunity for individual display and feedback will exist. Come and share!

Join Their Alpine Highnesses as They select Their new Alpine Scholar and Bardic Champion! Preregistration to compete will be required as will letters of intent.

Alpine Scholar:

From the magnificent Temperance Trewelove: Good Gentles All,
I am pleased to announce the seven scholars and artisans who will compete in the Principality of the Summits Arts and Sciences Championship. Please congratulate them for their passion and bravery (it takes a strong heart to subject your arts to the judgment of others). They are: Lord Gaius Aurelianus Felix, HL Elizabeth Anne de Gresse, Baron Randwulf de la Terre d’Été, Lady Ainsley Macnab, HL Alan Bowyer, Lady Morgan Woodsende of Hoghton, and HL Dawnhela Heartsblood of Briaroak. HUZZAH!
Come see their works and enjoy their classes on February 10th.
Original announcement:
If you are bold, join in the competition to represent the Principality as their Highnesses’ champion. The requirements for the competition are as follows: two entries and a class. Letters of intent are due at 12th Night and should specify the class & entry topics and categories (paper, object, etc.).
The class can be taught on site during the competition or anytime between now and the end of January, if you record the lesson. Recorded lessons must be submitted by the end of January so judges have an opportunity to view the recorded lessons in advance of the competition; all competitors, regardless of when they teach, will have a 15-minute post-class discussion with the judges. While the class is not scored, it is a required element of the competition. It is my hope that the Principality competition provides valuable feedback for all, and especially for those who wish to compete at the Kingdom level. Therefore, we will use the Kingdom Judging rubrics. These can be found in the Kingdom’s library; I enclose a link here. http://arts.antir.org/forms/judging-forms/
Let the glory of the Summits be on display!
Questions and letters of intent can be emailed or can be shared to Temperance Trewelove on the Book of Faces. Guidelines for classes will follow. In general plan the class to last no longer than one hour.

Summits Bardic Champion:

From the words of the wonderful Devin von Hine:

So excited for the Bardic Championship this weekend! We have a lovely lineup with Ben Ward, Erin Scott, and Monica Streight all competing for the title of Bard of the Summits!
Each bard has prepared one historical piece with documentation to be presented to the judges day of, one piece that shows them at their best, and one piece to be constructed day of the competition based on a given prompt.
We look forward to seeing you all there!

Original announcement:
