The DELIGHTFUL DUO LARGESSE CONTEST is coming to September Crown 2024!
When: Saturday Aug 31; 10am-5pm
Where: The covered picnic area (Butcher’s Shed) next to the Cabins on Kendall Field
Entrants – Updated instructions below! Please review carefully.
General Public – Come by, see the wonderful talent of our generous populace, and vote for your favorites!
Overview: Each entrant is asked to contribute two nearly identical handmade items which would not normally be donated as largesse due to cost, complexity, or time commitment. One of the two items will be kept by the Crown for gifting to fellow royals or to be used as prizes for other kingdom level contests, the second of the two items will be taken home by one of the other entrants as a prize. This means everyone who enters will go home with something fabulous! Each duo will be put on display Saturday and voted on by the populace during the day, granting the winner first choice of one of the other entries to take home. The order by which the rest of the entrants choose their prize item will be based on a blind drawing of names.
ENTRANTS:
~ Please drop off your entries at the Covered Picnic Area FRIDAY EVENING (contact for arrangements) or SATURDAY MORNING before 10am. Voting will take place throughout the day, ending at 5pm. Once voting ends, entrants or a representative are asked to gather by a 5:15pm to choose their prize. NOTE: If you or a representative do not arrive by then, your prize will be chosen for you.
~ While it is not required that you declare your intention to enter ahead of time, it’s quite helpful to us if you do so that we can plan accordingly for set-up. *It will also allow me to reach out directly with contest details as they become available or change.* Please PM me directly or email kingdom.largesse@antir.org when you’ve decided to participate.
~ Entries should include 2 CARDS (if hand written, please make sure they are legible)
with the following information:
•Entrant SCA name
•Home branch
•Point of contact (email or fb name if different from SCA name)
•A brief description of the item(s) being entered.
•NEW: If your items have loose pieces please include a way to carry each set (plastic bag, cardboard box, etc, nothing fancy required just practical containment)
~ Please see the “overview” above for contest details/requirements, and if you have any questions please reach out.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing your entries!

Sibylla de Waryn, OL

Crown Tournament

Archery Championship

On Sunday morning at September Crown, a tournament will be held to determine who will become the next Kingdom Protector. Come and test yourself and your missile skills against others from this great Kingdom and have a blast in the process!
The tournament will feature target archery, thrown weapons, and combat archery, with the format for the finals determined by Their Majesties. Participants should come prepared with SCA legal target archery and throwing equipment and SCA legal missile combat equipment (including armor).
Competitors will also need to show a current SCA membership card and missile combat authorization card. Those who wish to vie for the position of Kingdom Protector should review the requirements of the position in Kingdom Law.
Tourney format and design by the Royal Archer with help from the Kingdom Protector and marshal team and graciously approved by Their Royal Majesties, King Erik and Queen Brynhildr.
In service,
Archos Anika Styf
Archery Liaison

Equestrian

Having grown up in the equestrian community, I have always looked forward to and enjoyed the equestrian portion of the sca events here in An Tir.

Unfortunately, we were informed that there will be no equestrian activities, with the exception of The Riderless Horse Ceremony,  at the new location for September Crown. We wanted to alert the equestrian community to this so that they do not incur any additional charges, or stress, to both their pocketbooks and their horses.

I do look forward to enjoying their performances and activities at future events.

In service to An Tir, Bantiarna Elphin ò Flaìthbheartaigh
