The Incipient Canton of
Swanhaven invites you to join us by the Sparkling Sea for our very
FIRST event at beautiful Ruckle Park. Who will be Swanhavens First
Champions of Armoured Combat ,Combat
Archery, Rapier, A & S and Bardic. Other
activities include Ship Battles and Roving Rapier, Combat Archery
Shoot , IKCAC Padded Target (jockster), Don Quixote tavern
skill, Hunker-down, thrown weapons, RBG Poppinjay
shoot….Whew! And for the mind, Celtic Life and Lore, Banner
making demo and chainmaille demo on the Sunday and core TUTR
classes: Intro to book Heraldy, Chivalry and Etiquette and SCA
Structure ! see descriptions below. The theme for the Arts and
Sciences and Bardic Competitions is a SWAN in any medium.
Potluck BBQ and Bardic at fire ring. Bring your lutes, flutes ,
drums and zills, and conch shells!
Core TUTR class: ‘Introduction
to SCA Structure’, taught by Viscountess Æringunnr
Yrsudóttir. 11 am
From Shire to Society – what are the differences between
different types of branches in the SCA? What is the SCA and where
does it come from? Who is the King and what is his relationship to
the Seneschal?What on earth is the Mucking Tall Maul and what do
you have to do to get it? If you have ever found yourself wondering
about any of these questions, then this is the class for you! Cost
$1
Core TUTR class: ‘Chivalry & Etiquette’, taught by Viscountess
Æringunnr Yrsudóttir 1 pm
The SCA is founded on the ideals of Medieval Chivalry. What does
this mean and how does it play out in the day to day activities of
our game? In this class we will explore the customs, courtesies and
basic etiquette of the SCA. By the end of the class, you will have
a good idea of what is expected of you as a noble in the SCA, and
what youc an expect from others. Cost $1
Core TUTR Class: ‘Introduction
to Book Heraldry’, taught by Maister Iago ap Adam. 2:30
pm
Students will learn about period heraldic and naming practices, and
how those practices are codified in the SCA Rules for Submission.

‘Celtic Life and Lore’ also known as “Anacronachais ‘s
Athbheochan na nGael: Elements of Celtic Personas across the Irish
Sea.’ taught by James the Celt 4:30pm
Learn all about Celtic social structure, names, clothes, food and
history. Cost $0 (free as the wind that blows across the Irish
Sea)
