This is a dry event

but a few steps away is an award winning brewery, Mile Zero Brewing and Matt will be your server. Their porter is … Earth movingly awesome.
We aren’t exaggerating about the distance. You can see the brewery easily from the front door of the event venue.
They are looking forward to seeing you in garb visiting for a pint, truth be told, they are pretty excited about it and already knew about the SCA and that we are called Seagirt.

Dry bar

We will have a dry bar at the event with some dealcoholized Guinness, lager and red ale (and coke, coke Zero, cranberry ginger ale in both reg and no sugar).
So, we’ve got you covered. It’s kinda the best of both worlds!
Also, Pink Boots Hazy IPA is like a small miracle of a beer.

About Metchosin:

It’s a small town with one block of a downtown core. There is a general store, a pharmacy, a coffee shop, an award winning brewery, an award winning pizza shop, an award winning family restaurant (there’s a trend here …), a miller, Nootka Rose, who mills heritage and ancient grains and is open until 4pm and a whole lot of sheep.

That other Metchosin venue

Because Metchosin is so small there are two buildings within a block of each other that are very close in name. The Metchosin Community HALL IS our venue. Next door to the fire department, The Metchosin Community House, is NOT our venue.

PARKING:

There will be designated accessible parking and royals parking. You may see the parking lot taped off. We did that. There is another event the same day and their parking likes to bleed into our venue’s parking. Just know that if you are attending the Yule, you can park at the venue. If you arrive later (after 4pm) and there isn’t much parking at our venue, there is a lot of parking in the block around Metchosin. Lots.

Meal Information

Seagirt Yule Potluck Info:

We will be providing servings of both a Vegan and a Meat type protein (we are working on that part). As the event comes nearer we know there will be a roast leg of pork with a cranberry sage gravy and roast beef and gravy. We will take every precaution we can not only to list ingredients but also make the meat and gravies gluten free.

The potluck portion is to fill out the rest of the feast, we kindly ask that you label ingredients and bring:

If your birthdate falls within January -April.
Please bring a side veggie or salad
If your birthdate falls within May – August
Please bring a starch such as a potato dish, bread, noodle or crackers/cheese.
If your birthdate falls within September – December
Please bring a fruit or dessert.

If bringing food is a dealbreaker or hardship please don’t stress. If you want, there is also a convenience store and a pizza place and a restaurant. We are flexible on this and want everyone to enjoy.

We have limited plugins but will do our best.

Don’t count on using the fridge – it is limited in space, consider a cooler instead and if you have something needing temperature control consider bringing an ‘under dish’ with ice.

Tournament Information

All smart and skillful gamers, hear the words of Lord Az, Strategist of Seagirt. They have set the rules of engagement for our Games Championship!
NOTE: All those competing for Games championship must declare to the Baroness via email by the day before the event. seagirt.baroness@seagirt.tirrigh.org
Each challenger recieves three tokens.
Throughout the night, challengers wager their tokens on games of skill and chance.
This can be any of the Baronial games which will be setup through out the day, or any other period games a challenger might bring forward.
The challenger with the most tokens by closing court wins the tournament.
There is no limit to the number of tokens wagered per game.
and
All Bardic Artists – from beginner to advanced, hear the words of our Champion, Dame Morgaine Essex, OP, the Siren of Seagirt. They have set the rules of engagement for our Championship!
NOTE: All those competing for Bardic championship must declare to the Baroness via email by the day before the event. seagirt.baroness@seagirt.tirrigh.org
Seagirt Bardic Championship requirements:
2 pieces, one period, one SCA-esque.
Something outside of your comfort zone (new instrument, different language/dialect, different performance style).
At least one paragraph of documentation for ech piece. For the period piece; who, what, where, when.
For the SCA-esque piece; tell me what was your inspiration, and the time period (if applicable).
Please bring 3 copies of each for the judges
Two Turtle Doves Largesse Challenge
Yule shall also play host to the second annual Two Turtle Doves largesse challenge, to help fill Seagirt’s coffers!
What is Largesse? It’s the thank you gifts that our Baron and Baroness give out on behalf of the Barony, from woodwork to knitted items, repair kits to earrings. They can take many forms, and strict historical accuracy is by no means a requirement, but can be anything that an SCAdian would find interesting, useful, or delightful.
Entries to consist of two items (or sets of two), each suitable as largesse. All items in the set must be of the same type, but variations on style are allowed.
Some tips:
-Please label your work with your SCA name and Barony / Shire. This is to help whoever receives your gift know from whom, and where, it came from.
-Please label what your item is made of or contains, should you think there might be an allergy such as wool.
-Avoid any perishable items such as food, and if donating any scented items, please make sure they are in well-sealed packaging, as largesse is often stored all together in bins, and some recipients may have scent-related sensitivities.
Feast of the Immaculate Confection Dessert Competition (with Prizes and Renown!)
Keeping it simply delicious this year, Our Baroness has decreed that the competition to be Simply Immaculate Desserts, with one page of documentation maximum.
Please, as with all the food, bring a list of ingredients and if you require refrigeration, to bring a cooler.
A&S Contest:
The Contest:
You’ve received an inheritance! 💰📜📦🛍 Congratulations.
Now it’s time to brag about what you’ve inherited.
Your entry can be in multiple forms so long as you’ve created it. It can be in the form of a physical object, a written document (ie a property deed), or whatever else your clever minds can think of.
Along with your item include a write up that describes what your inheritance is, who left it to you, and why they chose to leave it to you.
This will be a fun way to help build some back story for your persona. Plus you get to keep what you enter.
Looking forward to seeing some creative and interesting entries.
