A Knight’s Ram’s Tale!

When last we saw Beauregaard, the Fabulous Golden Fleece of Ramsgaard, his newly-minted Guaardian was escorting him from London, much to the relief of a certain playwright. Since then he has turned up in the tournament circuit, having found himself a place as the noble (?) steed to a young knight… Who claims to be Dutch but sounds awfully English… Beauregaard is somewhat confused, but as long as there is fun and adventure, Beau is in.What other adventures has he had? Where did he get that armour? Why does his Guaardian appear so tired all the time? And who is the mysterious Mme Chérie Dujour?

Ramsgaard presents the next chapter in Beauregaard’s story: “A Ram’s Tale!”

There will be themes of courtly love, of changing one’s destiny, of the generosity of friends, of unrestrained, outrageously extravagant heralds… Opportunities to compete abound! We ask all who would vie for the position of Beauregaard’s protector to come to the Shire of Ramsgaard on the weekend of March 14-16 to compete in the multiple challenges required to become Ram’s Guaardian!

A&S Populace Choice – Now with Bonus Points!
  • As usual, the populace will vote for their favourite entry.
    • Most votes: 4 points toward the Ram’s Guaardian competition.
    • Second most votes: 3 points.
    • Third most votes: 2 points.
    • Each participant gets one (1) point for entering, no matter how many items they submit.
  • Bonus Points for each (non-set) entry that:
    • Is labelled “For Largesse.”

It is possible to get all three (3) Bonus Point on a single entry!

Voice Heraldry
  • You must act as herald and introduce another competitor in a single event.
  • In order to do this one you will have to find someone to pair up with so that you can introduce them.
  • It need not be martial – want to herald an entrant in the A&S competition? Sure!

Bring your best movie Chaucer or Galavant-inspired oratory and knock our socks off!

Siege Heraldry

Vlad made us do it. We also asked, “What on earth is this?”

  • It’s like Siege Cooking or Siege A&S, only with Heraldry.

Ah. Um…?

  • You’ll be given some heraldic elements and you’ll need to put them together to make a device.
  • There’ll be blanks and pens and colouring materials!

Oh, drawing and colouring! Why didn’t you just say so?!

But wait… There’s more!

Due to popular demand [that it be stopped] the annual Quiz Game will [of course] continue!

Classes Offered

Ukrainian Motanka Dolls by HL Juliana Jeo Vousdy [~2 hrs]
  • Cost is $5.00 – all material supplied. Please pay instructor directly.
  • Start time is approximate. Please check with instructor after the Archery Competition.
  • Students will learn how to make a traditional Ukrainian Motanka doll (cloth doll).

Class description:

Ukrainian cloth dolls called Motanka have been around for over 5000 years. They are made of cloth that is wound or knotted and traditionally made without using a needle or scissors. Although they can be used as a child’s toy, they are often created as talismans for protection or wishes. As Ukrainians believed that creating a face could tie a person’s soul to the doll, they do not have facial features and instead have pagan symbols such as a cross, which is a symbol of the sun, once worshipped by the ancients.

The word “motaky” means to wind, and these traditonal dolls were made without seams and fastened by winding threads around the parts, and secured with a knot.

Come learn how to make these ancient dolls and take one home with you.
