Their Excellencies Three Mountains invite you to join us in honoring our very own baroness of bacon and plague rats, Baroness Alexandria of the Canton of Kaldorness!
Come join us for a day of fun, frivolity, and food!
Bring your best Roman garb, play games, share stories, witness our Arts & Sciences Competition, and join in the shenanigans!
The Fine Art of the Handcrafted Subtlety
OR Playing with Your Food
In Roman times, Petronius described dishes served with the intention of entertaining and these later came to be called ‘Subtleties’. As we celebrate Baroness Alexandria and spend a Day in Rome with her, there will be a fun opportunity to create handcrafted subtleties, using ingredients reminiscent of foods from that time.
Participants who want to create something suitable for displaying, and possibly being noticed by the Honoree, will be given a food kit and a large plate for a base. As a gift to the Baroness, Ansgar and Valkyrie are compiling these kits, which will include fruits, preserved meats, cheese, vegetables, pretzels, homemade marzipan and toothpicks for construction purposes.
There will be 10 kits provided and participants may form a team or work individually. The age limit is 12 and over with an exception made for a child who brings an adult to work with them.
Are you interested in playing with your food and displaying the result? Then email Ansgar.Kartenmaker@gmail.com to have a kit reserved. Participants may also augment the kit ingredients with additional food items.
