NEWCOMER’S ENCAMPMENT
Canton of Akornebir
April 30 – May 2, 2010

The Canton of Akornebir welcomes one and all to our Annual
Spring Newcomer’s Encampment! Come learn about the SCA or
share your knowledge with others.  In long standing
Newcomer’s tradition, there will be free classes all weekend
geared toward those looking for an introduction to the
society and the many activities we enjoy.  Instructors
will receive a discount on their gate fee.  Those
interested in teaching a class, please contact the autocrat
ASAP to reserve your spot.

 

Championship Tournaments:  Spring also
brings the opportunity to test your mettle against others for
the title of Champion of Heavy and Youth fighters.

Camping Info:
The city requests no stakes longer than 10″.  Water is
available on site, flushies and no showers.  Above
ground fires only, 12″ please.

 

After dark – Curfew for children, aged 12 and
under: Children must remain in their family’s
encampment OR be in the company of their parents (trips to
biffy excluded).  The site is near a river and is too
dangerous for children to be wandering around unattended
after dark.

 

Midnight – 6 a.m. Quiet Hours: No drumming
or loud activities in the encampment commons.  Late
night Bardic activities may be held at the Autocrat’s
discretion.

 

RV Information:  RVs can be parked in
the general parking area for the event for free There are no
hook-ups in the general area.  If hook-ups are needed,
the fee is $15 per day and the hook-up area is at the
fairgrounds just a few blocks away from the event. 
Please e-mail the autocrat ASAP for a form to fill out for
the fairgrounds.

Pets: All pets on site will need proof of
vaccination.  Please be prepared to show proof of
vaccination at the gate.  Pets without proof of
vaccination will not be allowed on site.  Owners will be
required to pick up after their pets.  Please leave loud
or aggressive animals at home.  Mundane leash laws
apply.

 

Misc. Site Info:  There is limited
electricity available on site with medical needs a
priority.  Please bring extension cords and try to limit
crock pot use.

Tables for feast are really needed.  All of the picnic
tables in the park are chained down. Those who have spare
tables and bring them for feast will be greatly appreciated.

The site is discretely wet – period containers please.

Site fees: Campers – Adults (15 and over)
$15 .  Children, aged 6 – 14 $7.  Five and under
free, $40 Family cap.  This year’s fee will include
basic meals, as well as a served feast on Saturday.  Day
fee: $10 Adults and $4 children for children aged 5 and over.
NMS of $3 applies to Adult camping and day fees.  Please
make checks payable to Canton of Akornebir, SCA, Inc.
