Newcomers is an
opportunity to share what we love with folks who are
interested in what we do and/or are new to the group. 
Please, please make an effort to come and join in on the
fun. 

If you know someone who might be interested in what we do,
encourage them to come (it’s free!).

General
Activities
The Newcomers Event will be held at
the Mason’s Hall.  The main floor will be the hub for
all the activities.  The main floor will be partitioned
with the Newcomers demo on one side of the room and social
space for everyone else.  Bring your projects to work on
and enjoy a day of socializing and meeting
Newcomers! 

The event is
broken into two sections. During the day, we are in “demo
mode” to entertain and educate our Newcomers. 
For our guests,
no garb is required.  In the evening, we’ll
be kicking it up a notch by having a revel (garb
required).  The Wolf and Drum will be in
attendance.  There will be games, maybe even Tablero,
some dancing and general fun!

Displays
There will be some tables set aside for displays.  Bring
your “cool stuff” to display even if you didn’t make
it.  Just be sure to label it with your name.

Heraldry
If you’ve got it, bring it and flaunt it!  Show off your
banners.  Let’s make this look as fabulous as it
is!

Merchants
There
is a merchant providing food services throughout the
day.  There are other merchants who will be in
attendance as well.  If you wish to merchant, please
contact the Autocrats.

Buy-A-Life
Tourney
If weather permits, there will be a buy-a-life tourney in the
parking lot for both heavy and rapier fighters.  This is
a fundraiser to help pay for the new super spiffy
erics.  (Thanks to Callen for the idea)

Outfit a
Newbie
Bring your garb
that’s too small/too big or just sitting in the closet unworn
and put it up for sale by donation to dress a newbie. 
Bring any spare feast gear or other good things as
well.  All items to be sold by donation to help the
Barony.  (Thanks to Azure for the idea)

Newcomers
Class Schedule
Each overview class is 20-25
minutes long and meant to be an introduction to the subject –
not an extensive, in-depth survey of the topic.  Tell
our guests what the subject is, give some examples then
explain how it fits into the SCA and what we do.  Convey
to them why you love it.  The goal is to recruit new
people to join our ranks.  Get them interested so they
fall in love with us and come back!

Food Bank
Collection
The Barony will be starting to do more
regular collections for the Food Bank in an effort to compete
with other Kingdoms and Branches with their fundraising
efforts.  Let’s make our Kingdom and Barony proud and
show them we can do it too!  Please bring a
non-perishable item to contribute to the local food
bank.

Fees
Due to the financial situation
of the Barony, site fees for this event have had to be
adjusted slightly.

Cash only at the door
please.  No cheques will be accepted.

Gate
opens at 9am and closes at 9pm.  Event closes around
11-ish  J

If you
are bringing minors, please bring your completed waivers to
the event and save yourself some time at gate.  The
waivers are available online at
