Your chance to fight for honour and chivalry, or fortune and glory, is coming! We will have Heavy, Rapier, and Cut and Thrust tournaments! There will be prize tournaments as well as choosing the new baronial champions.
Armor inspection and lists begin immediately after court. We will not be providing water, there is running water on site. please plan accordingly and make sure to stay hydrated!
Heavy Tournament:
Champion’s Tournament It has been three long (LONG) years, since Sir Brehon barely won the Champion’s Tournament from the mighty Lord Dunstan M’Lolane, and he is ready to pass on this duty to a worthy gentle. For the tournament to select Glymm Mere’s next Armored Champion, we will be following a Northshield-style format. The format will be best of three, with no repeating styles. The three styles available will be weapon and shield, great weapon, and two weapon. In the event a combatant does not possess a needed auth or doesn’t have access to the required equipment, they must fight single sword, or yield the bout. Best of three. There will be limited loaner weapons available, but it’s best to plan on bringing your own. Prize Tournament But wait, there’s more. In addition to choosing the next Armored Champion of Glymm Mere, there will be a Sir Vitus Prize Tournament, with THREE GLORIOUS PRIZES for the winner!!!! 1) The first prize, an artfully crafted by our own HE Alasdair, knowne-world-renowned maker of all things cellulose-based, is a beautiful event box, with two game boards and a map of the Kingdom of An Tir on the lid (perhaps for a custom game of Risk?), that allows one to discreetly hide the cooler within at an event. 2) The second prize, is a fine steel longsword, with a Celtic anthropomorphic style handle, perfect for gracing the hip of the well-appointed warrior. 3) The third prize, by popular acclaim, is a set of SCA BATTLE DICE(tm). Now, to the tournament rules: Sir Vitus Tournament A “kill”, is two strikes on any limb (GW still count as kills for hips/shoulders), or a normal kill strike on the body or head. The first limb shot is only counted, not acted upon. Best of three.
Our wonderful YAFA officers will be providing family entertainment Saturday that will include a puppet show, stick horse jousting, story time with Her Excellency, Baroness Disa, and more!
Remember, youth and family activities is not child care, it is a place for families to engage in fun together. At least one parent or guardian must remain with a child at all times.
We are looking for volunteers for coordinators for setup (setup occurs Thursday evening and those who assist are allowed to stay on site that evening) and teardown, voice heralds, anyone interested in contributing to the arts and sciences village, and an assistant for lists.
Please email the event stewards if you are interested!
