Format For The Arts And Sciences Competition:

Please send letters of intent to Their Excellencies at
bandb@baronyofmadrone.net by March 11th.

This year we ask for two entries from competitors, with the first
being a completed item that includes documentation.  Your
documentation does not need to meet the stringent requirements of a
Kingdom entry, but should answer the questions of who, what, where,
when, and how, with a bibliography at the end listing your
sources.

The second entry may be your pick of either an incomplete item
entry, OR a completed research paper, which should conform to a
more academic format with in line citation and bibliography.

If you choose the incomplete item as your second entry, your
accompanying documentation may be in an outline format or some
other state of incompleteness.  However, we would hope that
you address the same questions of who, what, where, when, and how
in your presentation.

If you choose a research paper as your second entry, please have it
finished and ready to send in by March 10th so that judges may have
ample time to review it.

Cooperative entries are also welcome!  If you collaborate to
create one or both entries, we would ask that you all know who is
being represented as the potential champion, as we may only have
one individual in that role.  Please let us know that it is a
collaborative entry when you send in your letter of intent as it
will help the judges to be prepared appropriately.

Lastly, if you¢ï¿½ï¿½re unsure about competing, but might
feel up for sharing your work with you Barony, please consider
putting up a display.  Thank you for all of your creative
efforts and for considering coming out for the job of A&S
Champion.  As usual, if you need any help planning your
presentation, display, editing documentation, or just someone to
talk to about your process I and our gracious baroness are
available to you.  PM me here on FB any time.

Format For The Bardic Competition:

Greetings from Madrone’s Bardic Champion!

It
has been my intent throughout this year of service to encourage and
proliferate a specific aspect of the Bardic arts, that being the
Pageantry of Ambiance. Not all bards wish to stand in the
spotlight! Some wish to write songs for other bards to play, or
stand as a member of an ensemble. Some bards are adept at all kinds
of performance, be it as the star or in a supportive role. With
this in mind, I’d like to introduce a new method of determining our
next Bardic Champion.

This year, I wish to encourage a multitude of entries, from
individual to large ensemble pieces. To this end, several options
of venue are possible. Do you have a poem that should be read to
all the court? A dance that would be best performed to the delight
of those at feast? Or have you been working on a recorder duet,
that would sparkle in the background of the day’s festivities?
Madrone wants you!

To
enter, participants should prepare a minimum of two pieces to
present, either individually or as part of an ensemble. Sign up for
the venue of your choice at gate, and announce your intention to
try for the championship. Their excellencies will, at their
leisure, briefly interview the entrants (sample question : do you
like cake?). At the end of the day, when the performances are done,
our glorious Baron and Baroness shall determine and declare their
champion. It’s as simple as that!

Past entrants and former Champions encouraged to apply. You know
you love that sweet regalia…

Have more than two pieces to share with the hall? I love it, more
more more, all of the time!
Have a piece to perform but don’t want to be champion? Yes, please!
Work it up!
Just get yourself on the signup list, and we can work it out!

Come and play music! Sing us a song! Tell a grand story, or craft
us a rhyme! All of the bardy things forever!
Help us make this an event to remember. Madrone can’t do it without
you!

Yours in service and in art,

Rotrude Halfblind
