On Friday afternoon, we shall set up the site in preparation for
the Championships of Saturday. If time and weather allow, we may
open up the archery ranges and Erics for some early evening
activities. However, there will be no camping overnight on site. On
Saturday morning the site will open at 8AM to allow for set up of
the Championships. Invocation Court will begin promptly at 9:30AM,
with the Championships immediately following.

At this moment the scenarios for the Championships are being
refined, and could change some. But here are the current
formats:

For the Armored Championship: A two hour retained wounds bear pit.
The final rounds will take the top four fighters (those who scored
the highest in the bear pit) and undergo a double elimination using
randomly chosen weapons (weapons drawn from a lottery).

For the Rapier Championship: Fence for a number of rounds (aiming
for around five, but that will depend on the number of entrants),
best 2 out of 3 in each bout. If you win 2-0 you get 2 points, 2-1,
1 point. For the Final 2 (or if enough participants, final 4 will
single elimination down to top 2) will do a best out of 9 (first to
five wins) with a London Masters twist. The number of deaths you
have will determine your offhand as it rotates from single sword to
sword and dagger and finally out of the tournament (0 deaths-
single sword; 1 death – cloak; 2 deaths – baton; 3 deaths –
buckler; 4 deaths – dagger).

For the Archery Championship: The first elimination round will be a
half IKAC (Inter Kingdom Archery Competition).  This will
consist of 6 arrows from 40 yards untimed followed by a speed round
of 30 seconds. As many arrows as can be loosed. The same at 30 and
20 yards.  Half the archers will go on the semi-finals. The
semi-finals will be a Pigeon Shoot. A clay pigeon will be placed in
the middle of the hay bales.  Each archer will be allowed 6
arrows to break the pigeon.  Five points for breaking the
pigeon and one point for each arrow left in the quiver. Top 3 high
scores go to the finals. The finals will be an assassin shoot. The
Baron and Baroness will be seated just behind the shooting line as
if in court. The archer will be standing behind them as if in
court. The current Champion will shout ‘assassin’ and the archer
will run around in front of the coronets to defend them.  The
target will be a picture of an assassin next to a member of the
populace. Scoring will be one point for hitting the assassin and
one point off for hitting the populace. The archer will have 45
seconds. One point off for each arrow still in the quiver. The
archer will not be allowed to draw an arrow from the quiver till he
crosses the shooting line for safety.

For the Thrown Weapons Championship: Performance of a number of
throws per person at a range of different hanging targets (number
of throws to be determined on how many are going out for the
Championship). The current range of objects consisting of the
standard log, a typical thrown round and an oddly shaped round.

If you have any questions on the Championships and their formats,
please let us know and we’ll put you in touch with the right person
/ people.

At 4PM (or following the completion of the Championships) we shall
hold Court to invest the Champions determined. At 5PM we will have
a pot-luck / picnic feast. Please bring something to share. The
Barony will provide a main dish (a meat like object).
