Come one, come all.
Join us in the finest display of Arts and Sciences seen in many a year. The Barony of Montengarde, in the Principality of Avacal, is proud to host The An Tir Kingdom Arts and Sciences AS 37 (Calgary, Alberta, Canada, March 1 and 2, 2003). Join us for 2 days of classes, competitions, and of course the contest to select this year’s new Arts and Sciences Champion.

Cost for the event as follows (all prices in Canadian dollars). Arts and Sciences Hall and competitions both days $12 (Sunday only $6)
Feast and Rapier Tourney $12. If you preregister and prepay before February 2, 2003 we will give you a $4 discount, for a total 2 day cost of $20. Checks payable to MSCA.

2. Auto-Club, Maps, Weather.

3. Hotels – there is a group of hotels across the street from the main event site that are collectively known as Motel Village. Access across Crowchild Trail is by either street lights at 23 Av. NW or a handicap-accessable pedestrian overpass at the intersection. Prices quoted are rack rate, Canadian Dollars. There is 5% hotel tax and 7% GST on all rooms, in addition to the quoted rates. Exchange rate as of Dec. 20 is approx. 60%, ie. $10.00 US = $16.00 Canadian. If you figure, for convenience’s sake, that $1US = $1.50Can. the difference will cover the taxes, more or less. You will get a better exchange rate if you pay by credit card than you will buying cash at the bank. Most hotels will exchange currencies for you or accept payment in American cash, but the exchange rate they give is extremely unfriendly. Check for discount rates for autoclub members, AARP/CARP members, military/business/corporate discounts, etc. Room prices are subject to

To get from the OVC or Motel Village to the feast, go North (up -hill) on Crowchild Trail (aka Hwy 1A), turn Left (Westerly) onto Sarcee Trail. Stay on Sarcee Tr. as it turns into 53rd AV NW, and cross Silver Springs
Boulevard. You are now on Silver Ridge Drive and the Community Centre will be on your right. If you overshoot Sarcee Trail, continue on Crowchild until you come to Nose Hill Drive, turn Left onto Nose Hill, take first left onto Silver Springs Boulevard, take fourth (4th) Right turn onto Silver Ridge Drive. The hall is at the far end of this street on your left.

5. Things you should bring, given that it is the begining of March. Cold weather clothing : cap/touque, mitts/gloves, scarf, winter jacket/coat, sweater, winter boots or at least closed shoes and heavy socks.
Vehicle stuff : winter weight oil in the engine, extension cord for the block heater, ice scraper/snow brush, 1 blanket/bedroll per person, emergency kit, traction mats/sand/cat litter, new batteries in the cell
phone, good spare & jack.
