The site boasts full handicapped access and parking as it is one of the Rogue Community College facilities.

Meal Information

During the day, we are requesting that attendees bring an offering for our day board so that all might have some things to eat during the activities.   We will be providing hot beverages such as coffee and tea.   Some things that are currently are expected to make an appearance on the day board include:

• Gribnoi Soup – Russian Mushroom soup
• Lamb vegetable Stew
• Sticky Toffee Pudding

This year’s Feast Stewards are excited to offer up the following tentative menu for our celebratory evening feast:

First Remove:

• Cassoulet
• Vegetarian Soup
• Salad
• A variety of herb and oat breads

Second Remove:

• Norman chicken – luscious tender pieces of chicken, poached in a Norman-style cider cream sauce
• Baked Barley Casserole
• Honey Ginger Carrots
• Wheat Bread

Third Remove:

• Home-made Haggis
• Black rye bread
• A variety of crackers

Dessert Remove:

• Lemon Tarts
• Apple Tarts
• Sweet Haggis Pudding

 

Alcohol Policy:

Due to recent policy modifications of the Community college administration associated with the event site, we would like to make sure that everybody understands that this must be a “dry” event this year. This means that it would be very much appreciated that all our guests plan on having great fun within the confines of not having any alcoholic beverages on site. There are now monitored security cameras on site, and our reputation to abide their policies is at stake, please help us to continue to be their most responsible lessee as we really appreciate the use of this facility.

Tournament Information

Myrtle Holt Rapier Championship:

Our Ring-Tail Champion has been giving the finding of his successor as Rapier Defender of Myrtle Holt a great deal of thought.   He is certain that the format of the lists will be a standard double elimination round-robin tournament.   Our crowds of his adoring fans and the potential tournament fighters are fidgeting in anticipation of any more tidbits of enticing details that Ring-tail might divulge as regards themes, or, perhaps,  special interesting weapon rounds… with abated breath!!!

 

A&S ACTIVITIES

Hogmanay Costume Contest:

Due to the wonderful turnout last year, HL Rathyen de Bures has expanded the costume contest to two categories.  One for men and one for women.   You can present yourself, like last year, and regail her with all the interesting details about what you are wearing, how it was made, and if not made by you, who made it.    There will be prizes for each of the two categories.   There was some consideration given to whether to limit to Scottish period clothing, but we want to see all the splendid things people have made in any culture/nationality.  
Judging will start at Noon, and the winner will be announced around 1:00 to 1:30, depending on the number of entrants.  
Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful costuming efforts!

Volunteer Information

Assistance by current SCA members in running gate would be highly appreciated.   The event steward would appreciate it if you are interested in sitting at gate and assisting for an hour or two shift, please send an email or contact me on messenger/Facebook in advance.

Classes Offered

We are pleased to be offering the following classes:

Scottish Highland Sword Dancing: 

Back by popular demand!!! This class, taught by our local expert Dame Jennet MacLachlan of Loch Fyne, will cover the basic steps and the format of this traditional dance.   Bring comfortable dance shoes and a sword with a scabbard.  No Fee

Event Stewarding 101:

The event steward, David, will be offering up an updated version of this class that covers how to orchestrate an event in An Tir.   This class will be updated to include the new protocols associated with the new Kingdom website and associated changes in the planning organizing process.   There will be no fee for this class, There will be a short hand-out which will reference all other documents discussed in the class, and reference the cloud access where students can download all the files and print them.   For those who have taken this class in the past, it is highly recommended that you attend this updated version to learn important new information.

Nine Man Morris:

Bryan Buchanan will be teaching this introductory lesson to this popular medieval board game.   Nine Man Morris was popular in Roman and Medieval times.   The oldest known board carving is at an Egyptian temple in Kuma, Egypt, which dates to roughly 1400 BCE.   There are other variants which include Six and Twelve Man Morris, but for this session, we’re going to focus on the Nine Man Morris variant only.   There will be a couple of boards set up.   There is no fee and rules are simple and easy to learn.   This is a simple game of strategy.   Come and Join Bryan and learn a very period and popular game for two people to enjoy!
