Beginner Lucet Braiding – Signora Aspasia Bevilacqua
Braiding can be traced back to ancient prehistory.
The student will be able to create a square wool braid using a lucet. We will practice starting a lucet braid and work on ways to keep even tension.
The teacher will bring a lucet braiding book that students may look through at take photos of relevant pages to help with their learning.
Students should bring their own lucet if they have one; the instructor has some to loan for use in the class.
Cost: none
Minimum 2; Maximum 10
11:00-12:00
Passtyme with Cardes – Master Nicholas Worthington
We will learn Trionfi, a game for two to six, as a way to pass time with good company. If time and
interest allow, we will also look at Primaro, a gambling game, and one of Poker’s ancestors.

option 2: Master Nicholas would like others to bring and teach other dances; if there are any takers, the class will be expanded to two hours.

Bottle Cap Pin Cushion – Lady Giovanna de Sollario
Have you ever wanted to fill the Shire or Barony coffers with largesse? Want to learn an easy craft? Well then, do I have the class for you! You will sew up a cute pin cushion using felt, stuffing, embroidery threads, and yes, plastic bottle caps. This is a level entry sewing project for most people but for gentles with mad sewing skills this is an opportunity to embellish your pin cushion with felt flowers or embroidery – the sky is the limit.
Students should have some basic sewing skills.
Students should bring a sewing/embroidery needle and sissors – all other supplies will be on site.
Cost: $2.00
Minimum 2; Maximum 10
2:00-3:30
Butterbeer: Totally Tudor, Totally Delish! (19+) – HE Aniko Melyes
For legal purposes, all students must 19 years of age or older.
Butterbeer! No, not the coffeebucks version, but rich, fragrant, velvety and warm. This Tudor era recipe is delicious! Each student will receive a bottle full (500-750ml) to enjoy.
The instructor would LOVE it if students brought their favourite beer to exchange with instructor for ale. Instructor will bring enough of the same kind of ale for the class (this will ensure we don’t end up with 5 different ales).
Allergy list: Eggs, Butter (dairy), Clove, Ginger, Alspice, Beer
Student should bring a heat proof container approx 500-750 (mason jar or flip top bottle), a cup for sampling and optionally, an apron wouldn’t be a bad idea. Bring one beer to exchange with teacher for class.
Cost: $5.00 plus one beer
Minimum 3; Maximum 6
