Tournaments & Contests!

Thrown Weapons! MIC Taranis

Here in the south of Tir Righ we don’t like the fact that  65% of Tir Righ’s Senior Thrown Weapons Marshals, 60 % of An Tir’s top 10 Thrown Weapons scorers and 100% of An Tir’s Atlatl scorers reside in the triangle of Lions Gate, Hartwood, and Fjordland .

Fjordland invites all of An Tir to come help us break this triangle in a weekend of activities that will spread throwing skills, knowledge and success across the land.

Activities in development include, but are not limited to:

  • A variety of throwing games and contests
  • Score submission
  • Senior and Junior Marshal training
  • Atlatl throwing and scoring
  • Your ideas

As well as classes (or intensive discussion) on;

  • How to make weapons and targets
  • Throwing philosophies and techniques
  • Combat weapons
  • How to develop the sport and community
  • Anything else you might want to teach, learn or share

Archery! MIC Master James Wolfen

The range will allow us to do both Royal Rounds and a number of fun shoots. We might even have enough room for a York shoot but no promises on that one.  The archery range is a stone’s throw from the camping area with easy access.

Heavy Combat! MIC Sir Finn

There will be heavy fighting and a prize is planned for the tournament.

A&S Contest: Aurelia Saturnina

In keeping with our thrown weapons theme, this contest will involve researching an authentic throwing weapon and a matching persona.  Participants will learn about a historical weapon, it’s construction, it’s time period and geography. This will also include information on the person that would’ve used that weapon, who they were and what did they wear.

Your paper will require some basic documentation but don’t worry as this is meant to be at a beginner level.  Your documentation will look something like this: This is the knife that I researched and here is the book that I found it in.  This contest is perfect for beginners to researching and can be a short as a few pages.

There will be prizes for this contest.  Master Guidobaldo will be making some hand woven trim.

For more information, please contact Aurelia at sca.aureliasaturnina@gmail.com or watch the Facebook event page for updates.
