Feast of Favours December 10, 2005 Shire of Cold Keep Prince
George BC Come join us in Cold Keep for a Feast of Favours to
celebrate the season. The intent of the Feast of Favours is
to encourage you to give a gift, in the form of a token, to
someone you honour and respect. Or present your token to
someone you don’t know well but would like to know better. Or
present your token to someone who has never been to an event
before as a way to welcome them to Cold Keep. BUT you are not
to give your token to That Special Person you would normally
bestow a favour upon (eg. husband, wife, best friend, child,
etc). You may make the token ahead of time and bring it to
the event, or you can make it on site. Materials (felt
pieces, beads, wool and ribbon) will be provided for you to
create a token, or you can bring your own fabric, trim, etc.
There will be a potluck dinner: please bring a *seasonal*
dish, enough to feed 8-10 people. A list of ingredients would
be appreciated. The highlight of the evening will be the
presentation of the second annual Light of the North. The
Light of the North is given in recognition for excellence in
service to, and enrichment of, the Shire, and is presented to
one worthy individual chosen by previous recipients of the
token and the populace of Cold Keep. After the presentation,
all bards are invited to enliven the evening with song and
story. Seasonal songs and tales are encouraged, in keeping
with the time of year. Events of the Day: 11:00 site opens
12:00 – 12:15 short class on “Tokens and Favours
– What are They?” 12:00 – 3:00 token making
in the workshop area 1:00 – 5:00 gaming in the main
hall – group and individual games 3:00 – 5:00
tokens on display (populace choice poll for favourite token)
5:00 – 6:00 presentation of tokens (populace choice of
best presentation) 6:30 – 8:00 feast 8:30 Presentation
of the Light of the North 9:00 seasonal and/or period bardic
12:00 midnight – site closes This all takes place at
Studio 2880 at 2880 15th Avenue, Prince George BC, V2M 1T1
Site directions: From Hwy 97 – Follow the highway into town
and turn east onto 15th Avenue; the site is about three
blocks down on the north (left) side of the street. From Hwy
16 – Turn north onto Hwy 97 at the junction, then follow the
highway into town and turn east onto 15th Avenue; the site is
about three blocks down on the north (left) side of the
street. The site opens at 11:00 am and closes at 12:00
midnight. Site fee: $5.00 Children under 12 years of age – no
charge **Get $1 off your site fee if you have a token made in
advance – show it at the gate** Please note: the $4.00 NMS
will be in effect for those without proof of membership Make
