Arts and Sciences Championship
Deadline to enter Sunday, February 16, 2025
Format: Single entry including information on iterations and mistakes on the way to the final product (with examples of the not-perfect items if possible) Clean Cup Move Down! Much like the Mad Hatter constantly changing teacups and adding more or less sugar, milk, jam, etc, as scientists, historians, and artisans we often revise and restart and take multiple steps on our journey. For this year’s championship we are challenging you to do just that, and take us along on your journey to Wonderland. Did you rewrite that paper 5 times? Share your rough drafts and talk about why you changed it. Did you make practice bands learning to weave the entry? Show us the progress and what you learned! Did you throw some wobbly pots? Perfect! We want to see your growth. This year it’s all about your journey, and we want to help. If you are thinking about entering, join https://www.facebook.com/groups/494340113227208 for support for this and other Rivers Region championships. If you decide to enter, please contact the current champion, Lissette de la Rose at areshawna@gmail.com as well as dragonsmist.baron@antir.org and dragonsmist.baroness@antir.org to fall down the rabbit hole with us.
Bardic Championship
The time approaches to choose our next Dragon’s Mist Bardic Champion! Bards of all types are welcome.
The rules: –Two pieces, one comedic, one serious –Performances/presentations will happen during the feast –Judging will be populace choice with final decision by the Baron and Baroness If you are ready to vie for the championship, please contact Their Excellencies at dragonsmist.baron@antir.org and dragonsmist.baroness@antir.org
Each fighter will be given one token each for 6 weapon forms*:
*Fighters who are not authorized in all weapon combinations, or who do not feel safe using all weapon combinations may have weapon combinations substituted out so that they retain the same number of “lives” at the marshal’s discretion.
The format will be a repeating free-form round robin. Once you have fought a fighter once, you may not fight them again until you have fought all the other fighters on the field. Once you have fought everyone on the field, if you still have weapon combinations, your round robin resets.
Losing a fight results in the loss of the weapon form in use (ie, if I am using sword and dagger, and lose the fight, I can no longer use sword and dagger and must surrender that token).
Winning a fight against an opponent using a weapon form you have lost results in you regaining use of that weapon form.
There will be a set of pre-determined conditions which will trigger a strict elimination period. Once this has been triggered, fighters will no longer be able to recover lost weapon forms. Fighters not vying for the championship will remove themselves from the field once this strict elimination period begins.
Once a fighter loses all their weapon combinations, they are eliminated from the tournament.
The last fighter who retains at least one weapon combination is the tournament winner.
Double kills will count as a double loss, resulting in both fighters losing their weapon combination. This rule may be modified or suspended if it would result in the final combatants being eliminated without a winner.
