We hold one truth to be self-evident, all humanity requires sustenance.
While the children game, and the elders harp and sing,
and middling aged men and women brawl for braggart’s right,
flinging arms of knife and axe, and missiles launched without fight,
A hunger grows in the belly, it strikes our awareness like a bell’s ring.
And a select few will answer, the battle will be waged, a kitchen dance.
The Kitchen’s theme this year is Comfort Food.
Friday Dinner will be pulled pork sandwiches, Hearty Beans, and German style Cabbage Slaw ($10)
Saturday Breakfast will be Crepes with Fillings both varied and myriad ($10)
Saturday Lunch will be hearty soups and warm knobs of crusty bread ($10)
Saturday Dinner will be a feast of Brisket and Chicken, Chickpeas, and Sauerkraut ($15)
Sunday Breakfast will be Biscuits and Gravy in To-Go containers ($5)
Stefan “The Fat” De Kilpatric and his mighty peasant (and noble!) forces have a rendezvous with hunger in the halls of Camp Taloali, And they will not fail that rendezvous
Baronial Bardic Championship
The Terra Pomaria Bardic Championship will consist of three rounds.
Round 1: Humor – Whether you choose music, dance, or a skit, tickle the audience and Their Excellencies’ funny bones!
Round 2: Anthem – Aim for inspiration! Performances could use a battle hymn from Period or a rousing chorus meant to inspire great deeds at SCA wars (any branch accepted)
Round 3: Performer’s Choice – Bring us whatever suites your fancy!
Baronial Youth Championship
The Terra Pomaria Youth Championship will be taking place at Bar Gemels!! Below you will see the requirements for each of the entrants. Children who wish to enter must be between the ages of 7-17, with a parent who is a paid member of the SCA.
Letter of Intent – Required– Each child entering the championship must have a letter of intent. The letter does not need to be decorated, illuminated, or Fancy. It does need to be written by the child’s hand. The letters will be turned in during morning court.
Heraldry – Required– While at the event each child will create a Coat of Arms based on a set of simplified SCA heraldry rules. The Coat of Arms must be hand drawn and created at the event based on the challenge given on the day of the championship. Paper shields and Markers will be provided. A written description of the arms will also be created, but does not need to be in the language of heraldic blazon. THe Coat of Arms must not be currently registered with the SCA. Scoring will be based on the child’s ability to follow the rules and not on their drawing ability.

Arts and Sciences – Required– Each Child must display an Arts and Sciences entry. It must be an Item that is created in a medieval manner. The child must be able to tell the judges the following: What their item is, where its from, what time period its from, and how they made it. If the child is not able to talk to the judges in person, it is ok to write out the information. No points will be docked based on the presentation of the information. Judging will be based on the completeness of the information, age of child and the item itself.
Games – Optional-There will be a single elimination Mancala tournament. We know that there are many versions of the rules for Mancala. We will all be using these rules: Mancala Rules for the Terra Pomaria Youth Championship
Bardic – Optional– Each child will prepare a bardic presentation that is no longer then 3 minutes. This can be music, poetry, acting, story telling, dancing etc. The child will need to be able to tell us the title of the piece, the composer, and the culture it is from. While the piece doesn’t have to be Medieval, more points will be given if it is.
Service- Bonus Point– A Bonus point will be given if the child participates in an act of service at the event. The service must be provided and documentation turned in 30 minutes before evening court. Each child will be given a slip of paper to be filled out by the person that the service has been provided for. Examples of service: Helping out the heralds and lists, helping in the kitchen, helping to carry things, helping/serving on retinue, helping at Gate, Helping to carry things for a member of the populace etc. Only one act of service will count toward the championship.
We understand that not all people interact with the world in the same way. If your child needs accommodations please let us know prior to the event and we can work those out.
Explanation of the scoring:
Each section will be scored separately with the exception of the Gaming and Letter of intent.
The letter of intent is not scored, and the Mancala tournament will be based on the ranking of the tournament.
Heraldry and Bardic scores will be out of 20 points.
Arts and Sciences will be out of 50 points.
After each entry is scored and turned into the Coordinator of the Championship they will be ranked and the scores converted for the purpose of Fairness. In each Category, the person with the highest score will be given 5 points, Second Place gets 4, third gets 3, and everyone else will get 1 point. Letters of Intent and Service earn a bonus point.
Heavy Tournaments
-Sir Dublin Memorial: This will be a Noblesse Oblige (each entrant brings a prize offering). The format is Double Elimination
-Martial Melee: The exact format will be dependent on the number of entrants. If there are at least 10 fighters, it will be teams of 2 for an Alliance of Conquest. If there are less than 10, it will be a Round Robin with single weapon and buckler
Rapier Tournaments
-Bring Your Best Round Robin with a Three (3) out of Five (5) Final
Cut and Thrust
-There will be a Cut and Thrust event, either a practice or a tournament
Archery Tournament

Youth Display
-We will have tables available for youth to display projects on. The projects DO NOT have to be SCA related. We would like to see what our youth are working on! Items should have been worked on by the youth (i.e. start to finish or repainting a store bought action figure)
-If possible, let us know about interest in participating so we can estimate tables needed
-This is separate from the Youth Championship, but youth can participate in both
Youth Armored Combat
-We are hoping to have some level of YAC activity on site, whether that would be an information session, a practice, or something else, we don’t know yet
Volunteers needed for Gate, Kitchen assistance, Live streaming assistance, Errand running, Parking
