The Acorn War Schedule is available on the Acorn War website. It is constantly being updated the closer we get to the event.
To welcome weary travelers, House Blackhart hosts a soup kitchen potluck on Friday night of the War —
and it just wouldn’t be complete without a brewing competition!
Brewers, come share your craft!
All fermented entries are welcome: mead, beer, cordials, wine, pickles, cheeses, etc.
Judging will be done by populace vote.
If you’re interested in competing, please let us know by contacting acornwar@antir.org
This will help us ensure there is enough space prepared for all competitors.
There will be a number of tournaments at Acorn War across a wide variety of disciplines.
We are pleased to have Horses return to the fields of Mountain Edge. There will be an Equestrian Defender tournament, as well as other mounted activities; including archery!
For Equestrian Defender, it will be a timed course, with 10 seconds added to your total time for each missed target, except if you make the L and miss the cup, it will only add 5 seconds. Time starts when your hand touches the rope gate at the beginning, and ends when your horse is back through the gate at the end.
In addition to the course itself, we will rate each other on how well we embodied the ideal SCA equestrian over the course of the day. This might be pageantry, or horsemanship, or whatever “SCA Equestrian” means to each equestrian on the field that day. Each contestant will rate each other contestant from 1-10, and that number of seconds will be subtracted from their time.
Please remember that if you intend to jump the jump/step (or if your mount probably intends to), you must wear a helmet.
Duchess Caia will be hosting an Arts & Sciences tournament to determine who the next Defender will be.
With the event swiftly approaching this year’s theme will make it easier for all artisans to join: Work-in-Progress
Pull out your half-finished projects or start a new one. You may go lightly on the documentation, less than 1 page is preferred.
Be sure to be able to tell the judges:
From 3 to 4pm on Saturday, HL Rashida bint Yusuf will host an Archery Defender Tournament to determine her successor.
Participants will compete in a round-robin tic-tac-toe archery battle.
Tournament details to be determined.
The axe tournament will be a timed bear pit tournament. (Duration to be determined) We ask that each participant bring a great axe to fight with, and the memory of someone to fight for. The winner will be determined by the participants.
His Lordship, Sargent, Squire Atli Hvetulfr was a long time member of the Shire of Mountain Edge.
He was there when Acorn War began.
This tournament is held in his memory.
There will be a Tournament for the rapier fighters to show their skill. The winner will receive a hand-made historical hanger sword, skillfully wrought by Eaghan, Brynjarr Olfúss and adorned by Bohemond, all hailing from Adiantum.
