Waterbearing
A big flat of bottled water will be available for thirsty fighters, marshals, and those in need! We will have the water bottles located near the eric for easy self-serve.
Dragon’s Mist Armored Champion Tourney: The current Champion, Sir Robert Englson, is holding a tourney to find his worthy successor! The format will be a bring-your-best double elimination tourney.
Special: Cut and Thrust! A Cut and Thrust tourney will be held on the eric.
Archery range open for Royal Rounds during most range hours. Junior Marshals welcome to help call the line. Unfortunately, NO crossbows or broadheads can be safely accommodated on our range during any shoots today.
Archery Novelty Shoot, just for fun (and a prize!): Hosted by Archery MIC Rashida. We’ll have a gradual elimination tourney at 20 yds where every shot counts! How gradual? That depends on how many people participate.
Dragon’s Mist Archery Champion: Lady Tamsin seeks the next archery champion of Dragon’s Mist! Hear her words…. “The time has come to pass on the quiver and bow to the next Dragon’s Mist Archery Champion. I, Lady Tamsin, will be testing your ability to adapt to the unexpected with targets placed between 15 and 30 yards. There will be a timed round of 30 seconds, so bring enough arrows to meet that challenge. In the case of a tie, the top contenders will shoot to defend a Dragon against one of its deadliest enemies.”
Youth Champion (Junior and Senior levels)– “Dragon in Any Medium” makes its triumphant return! Depict a dragon in any creative form you’d like and submit it into our youth championship competition.
There’s a small playground located on site next to the covered picnic area.
All youth are invited to participate in our “Dragon in any Medium” champion competition (depict a dragon in any creative form you’d like and submit it at the event).
HL Claire will have SCAVENGER HUNT sheets!! HL Claire will also have some “Parts of a Bow” activity sheets… talk to an archer if you need help filling it out.
Lady Judith would greatly appreciate some help at Gate!
We need two people per shift, at least one of which is a paid-up SCA member. Ideally, people will sign up for two hour shifts, but we are flexible and willing to work around people’s schedules. Shifts are available from 8:30-10:30, 10:30-12:30, and 12:30-2:30.Meet your competition (if you are a competitor), chat with other attendees, feel useful, and otherwise be part of the action at this amazing event! Working gate is fun and a good low-key way to give back to the community. There will even be goodies — the Event Steward has largesse she would love to share with you in thanks for your time.
Additional Opportunities:
A&S Classes
A&S Coordinator Claire is working on assembling a class list. Please contact her (Tamra Prior) on Facebook or via email HERE if you have questions, or would like to join her class line-up.
Classes so far include:
What are silkworms? What is their lifecycle? What part of it all is the silk? Where the heck does one even start? What do you do once you have cocoons? Come get all those questions and more as Claire talks about her experiences raising the “tiny masters”, from eggs and tiny babies to fat little chonk piggies, cocoons and finally moths. This time with actual live silkworms present!
No fiber arts experience? No problem! I will introduce some terminology and show you how to warp a rigid heddle, as well as talk you through how to start weaving using the backstrap method. Prewarped heddles and all other tools you need will be provided. The project will be anchored to a rigid object and to the student’s belt (I will have cordage available for this). Students will be able to leave with their heddles, other tools and partially completed projects. I have tools for 8 (1 claimed), but anyone is allowed to watch.
Board Games
Carith will set up board games under the pavilion and be available to teach them from 11-12. In the afternoon, she will leave them set-up for open play until prior to court. Games available include Alquerque, 9 Men’s Morris, and Mancala,
