Appledore’s premiere female persona development competition, encompassing all that it is to be a woman in today’s world. Today’s world being of course whatever era your persona exists in! We encourage individuals to enter any or all of the categories of the Golden Swan Persona Challenge. The greatest challenge is to enter all the categories, prepare a full entry, and remain in persona for the entire weekend (actually about 36 hours). In order to be considered for the full challenge, preliminary applications must be received by June 30th. For more information, please visit the Tournament of the Golden Swan webpage at www.goldenswan.org. The event steward and the swan coordinator will be happy to talk to you about the challenge. In addition to lively discussions around persona development, we will also have classes and combat! We have traditionally chosen our Shire’s rattan fighting and rapier champions at this event and would be delighted to have additional activities if people come who can arrange them. This is a charming local event with a potluck feast and lots of opportunity to visit. Perhaps we can resurrect the punning competition! The site is the incomparable heritage site, the Grist Mill and Gardens in beautiful Keremeos, BC. There is camping and RV sites available, plus we will likely have a shared camping accommodation available. There is day food available from the Grist Mill Cafe. Site opens Friday afternoon and closes Monday morning for the hardy trippers among us. There are rumours of a catered feast being arranged.
