Bubba Wants You!
Come one, come all to the Barony of Wyewood Martial Champions event on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 9am-5pm. Tournaments will be held to determine the next baronial champions for Archery, Rapier, Rattan, and Thrown Weapons. Join us for a day of camaraderie and competition.

 

Day-shades are encouraged as this site is an open field.

 

Location: Behind the Associated Energy Systems building at 8621 S 180th St, Kent WA 98032

 

Site Fee: Adult non-member $25; 17 and under are free; Members receive a $10 discount. Lunch will be available for $5 per person (all ages). Make checks payable to Barony of Wyewood, SCA Inc.
Cash or Check only.

 

Champion Requirements:
1. Be an authorized fighter in that discipline.
2. Be a current SCA member at the time of the tournament and during your tenure.
3. Willing to swear an oath of Service or Fealty to the Barony of Wyewood.
4. Are not currently a champion in that skill for another branch, unless you are within 60-days of retiring as that champion.

Rights and Responsibilities of a Wyewood Baronial Champion:
1. Wear baronial regalia appropriate to your station.
2. Sit at High Table during Wyewood Feasts.
3. Advise the Baronial Coronet in matters of peace and war.
4. Provide ceremonial support during processions and court.
5. Attend baronial events during your tenure.
6. Promote within the branch and abroad, the activities associated with your championship.
7. Defend the branch against all challengers in the field relating to your championship.
8. Assist in coordinating a tournament to choose your successor.
9. Attend the tournament to choose your success and your successor’s investiture.
10. Maintain the baronial regalia and return it to the Baronial Coronet to be passed on to your successor.

 

This event is held and managed by The Barony of Wyewood, a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. and is considered the official presence of this group here. Payment for lunches will be taken at gate on Sep-7.

There will be approximately 40 lunches available. Any unreserved lunches will be made available the day of the event.

There will be no gluten free bread provided – feel free to bring your own! Clearly the pita has gluten. The salads

and meatballs are all gluten free

 

 

A hospitality table will be setup if anyone would like to donate snacky things that hold up to being out for long periods of time.  – pretzels, pickles, orange slices, etc.

Tournament Information

Heavy Tournament
Entrants shall participate in a round robin, swing-what-you-bring format. Entrants are requested to cover an eye of their choice while taking the field. I encourage entrants to experiment ahead of time on a method to limit eyesight. Patches or other coverage will not be provided by the event; please bring your own for the tournament. Come and embrace this challenge by brining your best, and vie for the right be named Wyewood Heavy Champion!

Archery Tournament
Novelty Shoots: wand shoot, rings shoot, moving target shoot.
Top 4 archers shoot best of center, 4 arrows in the quiver, but crossbows only get two bolts in their quiver.

Rapier Tournament
Standard QRC format with a single or double round-robin (depending on entrant #s).
1 double allowed, then loss to both.
Her Excellency will be asking questions to the competitors each round.
Final 2 best 3/5.
