Inspired by the mythic Gullinbursti, the golden boar of Norse legend, this weekend camping event will be a celebration of honor, skill, and camaraderie. Watch the forest come alive with the clash of armored combat, the swift precision of archery, and the artistry of historical crafts. Whether you’re a warrior, artisan, storyteller, or curious traveler, there’s something for everyone: heavy fighting, rapier duels, archery contests, youth activities, classes, and more. Don your garb, gather your companions, and answer the call of Gullinbursti, the Golden Boar!

Meal Information

Come one, come all, down to the main hall for a midday treat! Join the Baron & Baroness along with the populace for tea and a picnic. Get to know the new Baron & Baroness and get questions answered, play games, sip or spill some tea, sample the beverages from the Baron’s Beverage Challenge or just swing through and grab some snacks while you browse the silent auction offerings. This will be in an indoor/outdoor setting (weather dependent) just off the back of the main hall.

The Newcomer’s Picnic

We love newcomers and showing them SCA hospitality. Meats, cheeses, breads, crackers, and fruit will be provided but we request folks bring a potluck item, hot or cold to share with our new friends! There are stoves, ovens, fridges, and electricity in the main hall if you want to reheat your item or keep it cold. Don’t forget to bring a card with the name of your item and allergens it may contain.

Baroness Tea Party

Our wonderful Baroness has invited everyone to come to her mid-day tea party! Come enjoy snacks, conversation and of course, tea! Bring your favorite blend or just bring yourself.

The Baron’s Beverage Challenge

Our Baron has declared a challenge! Bring him your best non-alcoholic beverage to try. It could be tea, an ade-type drink, something fizzy or even a punch. Time to get creative. Bring a mug, or a goblet for yourself and stay to chat with other guests at the table.

Silent Auction

We’re having a Silent Auction at Boar’s Hunt! Come and see what unique treasures are up for bidding at the auction table. Our Auction goodies will be available at the main hall near Merchants. Don’t let the opportunity to bid on the one-of-a-kind items we’ll have available. Want to add something to the auction? Bring it with you to the auction table or report to the event steward after Saturday morning court.

HEAVY – The Hunt for the Golden Boar

MIC: HL Loftr Jolgeirsson

It is time for one of our greatly honored traditions, The Hunt! Sharpen your spears and ready your hounds
because the creatures you will face in these woods aren’t fluffy bunnies. Be wary of the noble Stag
whose great horns can pierce even the strongest of armor, dread the mighty Bear whose great strength
will overpower the biggest man, but the one that strikes fear into all brave hunters is Gullinbursti the Golden Boar with its powerful tusks. This legendary beast will not go down easily.

The heavy hunt will take place in the woods as in previous years, however due to site changes, access to
the hunting grounds will be different. This will be announced in court and there will be signs posted for
fighters.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL WHO WISH TO FIGHT MUST HAVE AN UP TO DATE FIGHTER CARD AND IT MUST BE SHOWN TO THE MARSHALS WHO ARE RUNNING THE FIGHTING, ARMOR INSPECTIONS WILL BE DONE BY THE MARSHALS WHO ARE RUNNING THE FIGHTING ONLY UNLESS THE MIC HAS SAID OTHERWISE.

Rules and Scenarios:

The Hunters: Hunters will have a single life (a standard killing blow will kill you) due to the nature of the
hunt and the location arms and legs will not be counted. Hunters will be armed with a spear or another
thrust only weapon.

The Dogs: Dogs will have a single life (same rules for Hunters) they will have two daggers and can only
point and bark during the fighting.

The Stag: Stags will have three lives which means three standard killing blows must be struck before the
Stag will fall (the fighter will call out loud when stuck and will count down till he falls down dead). Stags
will use two long swords.

The Bear: Bears will have four lives (same rules apply for all animals when acknowledging blows). Bears
will use a two-handed great weapon.

The Golden Boar: The Boars have five lives (once again same rules as above) please note there will be no “boar rage” once the boar has been slain, it passes on into legend. Boars will use two mass weapons and wear yellow.

When a beast is killed, allow them to get up and retreat to the woods where a marshal will be located for
them to rez, when hunters and dogs are killed, they will return to the edge of the woods to rez.

THROWN – Dwarven Treasures Scavenger Hunt

MIC: Lord Donnell Davinson

Join us for The Dwarven Treasures Scavenger Hunt, a thrilling outdoor adventure where you’ll embark on a quest to find legendary thrown weapons: The Bearded Axe, The Long Spear, The Short Spear, The Knife, The Kukuri, and The Small Axe hidden throughout the park grounds. As you journey through, find clues that will lead you to each weapon. The first to find a legendary thrown weapon will earn extra points and additional throws in the thrown weapons competition for the Dwarven prize! Will you be the one to unlock the mysteries and claim the treasure?

ARCHERY – Coming Soon

MIC: Lord Peter of Aquaterra

RAPIER – Coming Soon

MIC: Lady Dzovinar Korikoslian

BARDIC – A Skald’s Tale

Bardic Champion: Fleutzig Pongoda the Kitsune

Bardic Pre-Show:

Calling all bards, skalds, and performers! Join us for a Pre-Court Bardic Showcase, where your talents will set the stage for the grandeur to come. Whether you bring tales, songs, dance or music, this is your moment to shine as the court gathers. Let your performance captivate the crowd and prepare them for Aquaterra’s evening court. Sign up outside the main hall on day of event.

Bardic Circle:

Our Bardic Champion invites all skalds, poets, musicians, dancers, and storytellers to an evening of revelry and inspiration. Under the stars in the bonfire circle next to Merchant’s Row, share tales of ancient heroes, sing songs of battle and glory, and weave your magic through word and movement. Whether you spin tales of Thor’s mighty hammer, dance like the Valkyries, or sing of the cunning Loki, this is a tribute to the power of song, storytelling, and fun. Come, create, and be part of the circle! (Bonfire depending on forest fire conditions).

Youth and Family Activities

Youth Hunt for Gullinbursti

MIC: Alanna von de Huga

The call has gone out across the land for all of An Tir’s most nimble and courageous young hunters. Boar’s Hunt provides us a chance to do team battles in the woods. Youth will pair up into teams of three. One as a hunter with a great weapon, like a glaive or great axe, and two as dogs with daggers for teeth and claws. The teams will go through the woods hunting for boar, stags and other animals. The animals will be adults with pool noodles. Weapons and swords will be provided and some youth loaner armor will also be available. Youth must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and submit a properly signed waiver (blank waivers will be available). YAC Fighter Authorization cards are not required to enter. The Youth hunt will begin shortly after the heavy fighting ends. Any heavy fighters willing to participate in our hunt as one of the animals will be rewarded with thanks, praise, and the chance to be named best Youth Boar.

The games pavilion and playground are also open to our youth.
