Commemorating the 28th year of The William Tell Tourney August
23-25th, the Shire of River’s Bend welcomes one and all to attend
this event being held at the Kalama Fairgrounds in Kalama
Washington.
Combining our Heavies & Rapier Defenders and Archery
Protector tournaments with our regular events this year promises to
provide a very full schedule. In addition we have an Arts &
Sciences competition and the Iron Missile competition in thrown
weapons & archery. Our regular events include the William Tell
Shoot, The Beast Who Shall Not Be Named Shoot, children archery
events, the Adult/Child Shoot, Thrown weapons, classes on a variety
of topics including archery and thrown weapons marshaling, a Movie
Night with “Brave”, Youth & Children’s activities to include
the archery & ice cream making, Heraldry consult table /
Heraldry meeting, Friday Night’s Travelers’ meal for a cost of $4,
A Hotdog/Sausage Dog sale shire fund raiser during midday
Saturday($2.00 for dogs/ $2.50
sausages), A Saturday night dessert potluck social and Bardic
following the Royal Court, the Guillermo da
Sierra Patace Memorial Bocce Ball Tourney, Scottish
Rules Croquet, a silent auction for nifty prizes, and
merchants.
Their Majesties Ieuan and Gwyneth will be in attendance. A Royal
Court will be held late Saturday afternoon. All Activities will
stop at that time for Royal Court.
The Heavies and Rapier
area will be in the fenced arena this year. This offers
plenty of seating for the spectators and we will provide some
shade. Combatant’s day shades will be allowed inside the arena on
the Eastside.
If you are
going to participate for one of the Championships, you must declare
yourself as a competitor at the appropriate lists
tables.
The Arts &
Sciences Competition is an open theme and will be judged by
the populace. Everyone is welcome.
Fire pits are
permitted providing they are up off the ground 18 inches. Charcoal,
SEASONED WOOD, presto logs are allowed. Spark screens are a good
idea. Fire extinguishers supplies must be within reach.
Absolutely No Smoking anywhere
except in your camps or by the permanent bathrooms graveled area
.
Dogs on Leash as per Kingdom Law. Please pick up after your
pets.
Parents are expected to monitor/ supervise their children
.
There is a large dumpster for garbage by the front gate. Please
police your site for trash.
There will be NO York
Rounds due to the continuing Safety issue of distance versus
wind changes at this site. However there will be open range time on
Sunday to practice honing your archery skills.
There has been some rearranging of the site for activities. Some
of the camping space has been shifted to provide Royal encampment
area. The Thrown Weapons Range has also been moved down close to
the Archery Field.
As always Volunteers are welcome and appreciated especially in
Town crying heralding and in marshaling.
Gate open Friday August 23rd at Noon and closes Sunday
August 25th at 6:00p.
William Tell Gate
fees: NMS is $5 and applies to anyone who is a
non-member 18 and over. It also applies with the Family Cap if
non-member adults.
Weekend: Adult 18 and over – $15; Youth 12 – 17 $8; under 11 free.
Family Cap: $48
Daily: Adults $10, Youth $5, under 11 free
Site Directions: From I-5 North or South take Exit 32 (Kalama
River Rd.), located between Kelso and Kalama, WA. Turn EAST as you
exit the freeway – the fairgrounds are visible from the off-ramp.
Turn LEFT turn onto Old Hwy. 99; make an immediate RIGHT turn into
the fairgrounds parking lot.
