Summer’s End 2013, Shire of Krakenfjord Sept 13 – 15 2013

A hushed whisper creeps out upon the land. Steadily it grows till
it is heard as a roar, the roar of the Kraken.

Once again the Shire of Krakenfjord will be hosting their
Summer’s End gathering in September.

To that end we send out this invite to one and all, come if you
dare and test yourself against Armoured warriors, draw your blades
and cross them with cunningly skilled Rapiers.

Quench your thirst for knowledge from the wise teachers that
will travel from afar.

Bring your words of wit and song for a bardic circle where many
shall enter but there can only be one survivor.

Come for fellowship, for challenge. for knowledge, for laughter
and fun. Come and be part of our best event yet.

As usual, merchants are most welcome to come and ply their
wares.  There will be no extra merchant’s fee, only the
regular gate fee will apply.  If you are planning on attending
this event, please notify the Event Steward so space can be set
aside for you. We have decided to try something a little different
this year..On Saturday we will be opening up merchant’s row to the
local public from 12:00 to 4:00pm with the hopes that this will
make it more worth while for merchants to attend.

At the time of this writing, on site food has been arranged but
are not sure of times of availability, but there are restaurants
within walking distance.  Accommodations are also available
right next door to this site, cost is $89 per night double
occupancy ..might be cheaper if we get more then 7 rooms
rented.

There is a campsite also located right next door with power and
water hook ups, camping cost is $20 per night for water/power, on a
first come first serve basis…about 20 campsites.

Rapier Competition    Info to follow

Due the restrictions of the Event site, Archery and thrown weapons
Challenges will not be available.

Non Combat Challenges:

A & S:  Our 2012 A&S winner, Lady Ismeralda has put
forth her challenge for this year.

She has decided to SPICE things up, yes SPICES.

The challenge is to create an entry involving SPICES for your
own persona’s home and time.

Documentation will be required as usual.  So do the
research, grow some plants, do a display…let your imagination go
wild.

Bardic circle:  It is time for all good bards to dust off
their thinking caps and sharpen the charcoal stick. Songs, poems
and jokes, as long as it is true to the dream it counts.  Got
a drum, a pipe, or any other musical talent, bring it along and let
the good times roll.  There are also plans for an interesting
version to the medieval insult competition, so look forward to
this.

Classes:

We have had requests for classes and are as we speak making
connections with teachers for this event.  Please watch for
further info.

Site Info:
Open field tent camping only.

This a baseball diamond and vehicles can only deliver your
camping equipment to your spot and then must park in the parking
lot.

There are washrooms with shower stalls available almost
onsite.

Rvs can either park in the parking lot or can rent camping
spaces with power and water hook ups (this cost is not included in
the gate fee nor will the gate fee be reduced if you choose to rent
a space).

The parking lot is just across a small bridge from the Event
site.

I will post camping space costs when I get them.

As stated before there is a motel located beside the event site
and the cost for room rentals will also be posted as soon as I get
it.

Since this is a City owned Recreational park, there will be NO
campfires within the baseball diamond fence.  There will be a
bardic circle but fire may not be available, we are working on
ideas for this.

Any and all Animals must be on a leash at all times, and owners
are responsible for clean ups.  There are ducks in a near by
creek and dogs are not allowed to run free or scare them while on
leash.

There is a creek beside the event site and as such all children
must remain with their parents or legal guardians at all times.
