The Shire of Mountain Edge welcomes all to our 7th
Defenders Tourney, this year at a new site, the Chehalem
Armory Center, close to Rte 99W in Newberg, Oregon.

The site has ample off-street parking – the heavy
and youth armored combat is on an elevated lawn just steps
from the main hall, the main hall hosts a classroom for
A&S defender judging, tables for merchants and projects
and visiting with friends, a Pied Piper area with
child-friendly flooring, mens and womens restrooms (ADA
compliant) with changing space, a kitchen, and – NEW
– an indoor eric for the rapier defender tourney. The
site is ADA accessible (except for the lawn).

Site fee includes beverages and snacks , a light lunch
of soups, cheese, and bread, and dessert served just prior to
closing moot/Defender investiture.

Come and vie to be our next Heavy Armored Combat or Youth
Armored Combat or Rapier or Arts and Sciences Defender! Not
competing? Come to honor our current and future defenders and
to enjoy the company of friends old and new, work on an
indoor project, enjoy the bardic and A&S displays.

A&S tourney format per our current defender, Lisette de
la Rose:

Single Entry, Persona Based – “Something Your Persona Would
Use.” This could involve the creation of an item, whether it
be clothing, accessories, foods, household items,
performance, armor, weaponry, etc. If you do not have a
persona yet, but there is an era or culture that interests
you, make something from that era or culture.

Research papers: Please indicate how the topic would have
pertained to your persona or to someone living in that
era/place. Please limit entries to 8-10 pages of text (12 pt
font, double-spaced recomended) Please be courteous to your
judges and have your paper emailed to areshawna@yahoo.com at
least one week before the competition. This will allow me to
get the papers to the judgres with time to read and review
them. Reading and thoughtfully critiquing a paper the day of
the competition is almost impossible so please be aware that
we will not be accepting research papers at the event. Thank
you for your consideration.

In addition to the defendership there with be an artisan
display with a populous choice prize. If there are youth
interested in participating there will also be a youth
category.

Please let the event steward know if there are any questions
or concerns and especially if any additional considerations
(performance space, tables,etc) are needed.
