WAR!

Pre-registration for fighting is now open! This is something new we
are trying this year. If you are fighting either Heavy or Rapier
please email your SCA name to gmwebminister@gmail.com, we will look
up your fighter authorization and send you an email to confirm
pre-reg. At the event you will simply check in and then proceed to
armor inspection. Our MIC Arqai Ne’ürin reminds you, THIS DOES
NOT REPLACE HAVING YOUR FIGHTER CARD ON YOU! If you do not have
your card we will be happy to see it on YOUR phone via the website
but sometimes signal is scarce. No card = No fighting!

Equestrian

I, Lord Bernard of York, Equestrian Champion of Glymm Mere,
offer greetings to all equestrians. Honey War, in Glymm Mere, is
just two days away on July 28, 2017. It is time for news on the
equestrian tournament.
The event has arranged for several stalls and supplemented
the cost at a blanket amount. I am still working with the stable
owners on what additional (if any) costs would be incurred. With 7
horses registered, little over half have been reserved. Please
contact Bernard of York (Phil Gilbert) to reserve a stall. The
stables are unable to supply feed or bedding.

The equestrian tournament and competition for the Horse Champion of
Glymm Mere will take place on Saturday. The day will start with a
horse and rider’s presentation to court at 10:00am. This will be
followed by either a round of jousting or mounted combat. At 12:00
the tournament will start.
There will be five challenges with the same maximum score possible
based on a hunting theme. The rider and horse’s final score is the
sum of the top 4 scores. These will include elements from lance the
hare (heads at three heights), shoot the roe deer (archery or
thrown), boar hunt (lance the boar), spear the birds (rings) and
lance a bear (quintain).

Iron Scribal
This year we will be testing your illumination skills! Prizes will
be awarded to the winners and also war points! The scrolls will be
divided into three categories, Apprentice, Journeyman and Master.
Please remember to write your name and Barony on the back of your
scroll as they will be judged solely on your work. Thank you to HL
Rosamund Winder for running this!

Iron Bardic
My Lords and Ladies, pray attend! There will be an Iron Bardic at
Honey War this year!! Calling all bards, whether seasoned or new to
sign up at 8am at the Bardic Pavilion, roll your die for your theme
and either turn it in or perform it at 3pm. It must be an original
work, either lyrics, or existing words set to an original tune.
There will be prizes and a war point to win! Thank you to Aine Skye
for running this!

Iron Needle
We are bringing back this exciting challenge this year! This years
theme is “something to hold things in”. A mystery item that must be
incorporated into your item(s) will be available at 8am on Saturday
morning at the A&S pavilion. There will be a prize for the most
items made and also the best piece made. Thank you to HL Heidr in
Ljosa for volunteering to run this!

Brewing
This year’s brewing contest will consist of four categories:

Wines and Meads
Beers and Ciders
Cordials and Infusions
Non alcoholic brewed beverages

Each entrant will be limited to two entries per category. Each
entry must include an ingredient list, and extra points will be
given for period documentation.

The winner of each category will win a war point to assign to their
desired Barony. Entrants may, and are encouraged to, enter and win
multiple categories. May the power of your drink prevail!

Siege Cooking
There will be three mystery ingredients ready for pick up at 11am
at the Glymm Mere Baronial Encampment. You MUST not start cooking
until 11am. You may beg, borrow, trade or abscond for more
ingredients. When you pick up your mystery ingredients you must
tell them where your station is set up at. The judges will be
stopping by during the hours to check up on you. You may turn in as
many dishes as you like. Your dish(s) must be turned in by 2pm for
judging at the Glymm Mere Baronial Encampment.

IT’S A WITCH!
A new fun game to play through-out the day on Saturday.  If
you are given the mark of the witch you must put the items on and
stand in place for two minutes.  If no one yells “IT’S A
WITCH!” to you within that two minutes you are free to give
the mark of the witch to anyone of your choosing.  You CANNOT
force someone to take the items.  If someone does say “IT’S A
WITCH” to you, you must then go find a Knight.  They will pass
judgment upon you and instruct you on what to do to get rid of the
mark.  Do as they say and only then can you pass the mark onto
anyone of your choosing.  (Please remember this is a fun, PG
game.)
