Greetings all, Fort Lewis asked the Stronghold of Rath an Oir and the SCA to help them celebrate the 4th of July at their annual Freedom Fest. This is our sixth annual event and the stronghold is holding its annual Champions Tourney for heavy fighters and rapier fighters The day is filled with arts and science displays, tourney, demo fighting, opportunity for demonstrations of all sorts – bring your crafts, and a great day of fun. Bring your period tent, just be aware staking is limited to about 6″ depth. The Blatha an Oir Kazoo band may appear to herald in the evening, so bring your kazoo and join the band.
No site fee requested and therefore no non-member fee charged. All SCA waiver rules apply as this is an official event. There is a strong possibility of a courtesy meal (snack) for all who attend. Suggest you bring a lunch and beverages, we do have water.
Merchants are invited. There is a minimal fee of $15 and completion of a contract with the post due the day of the event. Please contact this autocrat for more information and coordination. Site is small so combined merchant activities are advised.
Access to the post is easy but patience is required along with drivers having current license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance. A visitors pass will enable you to unload at the site and park near by. To receive the driver’s name must be on the AnTir membership roster as of April 2004. If not, let me know two weeks in advance so I can add it.
Enter through the Logistics Gate and with papers in hand say you’re with the SCA and give your modern name. Event site is by the movie theater on Liggett Ave, just off 41st Drive/Division Drive, post signs will help direct traffic. Location is the same as in previous years. You can arrive on post as early as you want, but site set up won’t start till 8 AM. (site location could change last minute, we hope not, so keep watch)
