Beyond the darkness of winter, there is an oasis of light and
warmth, a hope-filled celebration welcoming the return of
sunlight and promise of spring. The Shire of Dragon’s Mist
invites you to journey with us to 15^th-century
Cataluna for The Festival of Light, a feast of Catalonian
cuisine, and a celebration of the awakening of the earth with
companionship, entertainment and joy.

The 15^th century was a golden age of Catalan
literature and lyric poetry. Join our Poetry Competition,
Games Tournament, and classes; enjoy troubadours, jongleurs,
a magus for children, rapier appreciation, storytelling and
Spanish dance.

We are also pleased to offer an ithra-credit class: Basic
Heraldry. This is an ithra “core class,” and it also
satisfies a College of Pages requirement—ages 12 and older
are welcome to sign up.

Based on Renaissance Catalonian feasts and following the
advice of the Libre de Sent Sovi, the feast will be in three
courses: “From the spit, from the pot, and divers sweets and
wafers.” Staged performances and awarding of prizes will
entertain and delight between courses.

January 31, 2004, at Patriot Hall VFW, 8455 SW Seneca Street,
Tualatin, OR, 97062. Site opens at 11:00 a.m.; feast at 5:00
p.m.; site closes at 11:00 p.m. Site is wet. Candles are
allowed.

Take Interstate-5 to exit 289 toward Tualatin/Sherwood. Turn
right onto SW Nyberg Road (turn left, if coming from the
south), turn slight left onto SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road, turn
right onto Boones Ferry Road, turn right onto SW Seneca
Street. (These are very short distances; Patriot Hall is less
than ½ mile off I-5.)

For those coming from the McMinnville or Newburg areas: Take
your best route to 99W North. Turn right on SW
Tualatin-Sherwood Road. Turn left on SW Boones Ferry Road.
Turn right on SW Seneca Street.

Site fee: $4 (ages 0-12 free). Feast fee: $8 (children on
parent’s lap, free). Non-members add $3. PREREGISTRATION
REQUIRED. REGISTRATION MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN
JANUARY 15, 2004. Make checks payable to “SCA, Inc. – Shire
of Dragon’s Mist.” Send your pre-registration to the Event
Steward.

Pre-registration is required only for the feast. You do not
need to pre-register for day-only attendance.
