Feast Upon the Day of Saint Hedwig Shire of Herons Reach
October 19th, 2002, Astoria, Clatsop Co. OR

Come join with the populace of the Shire of Herons Reach in celebrating yet another year’s moss harvest. Though the summer drought has slowed the amount of harvest, the quality is superb. Saturday, October 19th, a potluck feast will be held to commemorate the Day of St. Hedwig, the patron saint of moss gatherers. Among the attractions, distractions, and downright annoyances will be a bardic competition, a “best” pun contest (the Punny-Bunny is looking for a new home), and activities for the smalls (and interested bigs) such as beginning spindle spinning, making Monk’s cord, fabric painting (or coloring), Kumihimo braiding, and more. If all goes as planned, we hope to be able to have a bit of archery practice.

The potluck feast will be held indoors (although the archery, if we can have it, will be outdoors). The suggested food amount for your contribution is the amount you would normally make to feed your own, plus for 5 more. The Shire of Herons Reach will provide cheeses, breads and fruit. If your mundane name begins with A—I, please bring a dessert; J—R, a side dish; S—Z, an entree. And don’t forget your feast gear! Feasting begins at 6:00pm, with bardic to follow.
